United Kingdom The Driver (Walter Hill)

The Driver Blu-ray REVIEW

NEWS
https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=13999

Quote:
StudioCanal has revealed that it plans to bring to Blu-ray director Walter Hill's thriller The Driver (1978), starring Ryan O'Neal, Bruce Dern, Isabelle Adjani, Ronee Blakley, and Rudy Ramos. The preliminary release date set by the studio is July 14th.

Synopsis: Walter Hill directs this -thriller in which Ryan O'Neal plays the Driver, an ice-cool getaway ace whose skills are for hire. Bruce Dern is the detective who becomes obsessed with catching him. The more O'Neal leaves tantalising clues at the crime scenes, the more Dern becomes a man possessed with catching his prey. Isabelle Adjani also stars.
Hopefully, the crew at Canal will use the original poster art as the old Danish DVD release did.

Excellent film. I didn't think the cost of the Twilight Time version was worth upgrading the DVD but I'll probably upgrade for this.

Hopefully they'll be able to use the Fox transfer from the TT disc, which was perfect. Though I suppose there isn't actually any reason to think that would be case.

Yeah, I'm not sure if I would've bought the Twilight Time release if I'd known this, but it's not like this release will be super cheap initially--it'll probably be £14 or £15 for several months until the price drops to below £10. It be nice if there was a way to determine what Twilight Time releases would be released in other regions.

Unless the titles are already out, I don't think there is a way to know. Twilight Time either has the rights for a certain period of time or until x amount of units sell. I don't think they'd broadcast the news of other releases as it would take away their exclusivity.

At least this and Body Double are getting a release, we just need a few more now, even if they're spread out all of different territories!

I've been very close to ordering the TT release and was seriously thinking about it before it goes OOP. Now for the Studio Canal transfer lottery..
