Default Would this work to get rid of all the trailers on the blu-rays?

I think most of the trailers are uploaded from the internet. What if I disconnect my blu-ray player from the internet. Will that stop all the trailers? It just bugs me that they are there in the first place. I bought the movie. I shouldn't have to skip through 5-6 trailers every time. Back in the day. Trailers were only on rental movies and never on the purchased copy.

You would still have all the trailers even if you weren't connected.

What makes you think they are uploaded from the Internet ?

I use my PS4 for my bluray player and I know I have seen a message on some movies "uploading fresh trailers from the internet now", or something like that.

It annoying. I have to stand there and babysit the disc to get to the title screen. I want to be able to throw the disc in, run to the bathroom, or mix a drink and be able to come back and start the movie. Noooo, I got to stand there and tap skip 6-7 times. By then my drink is gone and I've pissed my pants.

I think most of us would like that but hey, that’s capitalism for you !

Some discs do have the option to go straight to the menu via your remote.

Universal definitely streams some trailers from the internet.

I personally like 3-4 trailers before my movie starts as long as they can be skipped. I've discovered (and sometimes rediscovered) countless films this way. I agree that 7-8 trailers is excessive... I also hate it when they group trailers into one chapter stop so I can't skip individual trailers but instead it's all or nothing. Trailers are a part of the moving going experience however and so I appreciate seeing genre relevant ones before my movies most of the time. I also use that time, like you, to use the bathroom or prepare a snack on occasion.

This is the definition of a first world problem. Probably one of the most ridiculous posts I've ever seen on here.

Or... you put the disc in and go do all of that stuff while the trailers play. By the time you get back, the trailers will have finished and you’ll be ready to go.

As someone who spent a few years behind the counter of Blockbuster, I call shenanigans on this claim.

Yes. I like trailers. Even on my blu rays, I can't tell you how many times I've played an old DVD or blu ray and re-discovered some other movie cause of the trailer and sometimes its even nice to watch them and remember what was coming out during those times....etc. You can always just fast forward.

Well, yes and no.

Is a rash of trailers on a retail disc a first world problem? Of course. Then again, pretty much everything we complain about here at blu-ray.com is almost by definition a first world problem, no?

Is looking for a way to eliminate trailers on a retail disc ridiculous? Eh, I dunno. That's a closer call, I think.

And if we're talking about undefeatable trailers on a retail disc that close call becomes and unambiguous no: complaining about undefeatable trailers on a retail disc is not at all ridiculous.

I hate that. Undefeatable trailers are frustrating enough on rental discs but they're downright maddening on retail discs.

I have plenty of DVD's and VHS that I purchased from a retail location that has trailers before the movie. Not sure what the OP is talking about.

I personally don't mind a few trailers at that are skippable. My problem with trailers is going to Regal to watch a movie, start time is 7 but after 20 minutes of trailers the film finally begins. I have a local theater near me that isn't the greatest quality but when they have a start time, they mean the films starts at that time which I love.

I noticed that my player (Panny BDT460) only downloaded Universal internet trailers when I had a USB hard drive connected. Disconnect the drive, no downloading of trailers.

When I would buy used copies from blockbuster, I don't remember if they were VHS or DVD, but they always had trailers. When I would buy new copies from the movie store at the mall. They never had trailers. They added in trailers for the rental copies to get people to rent more movies.
