I think most of the trailers are uploaded from the internet. What if I disconnect my blu-ray player from the internet. Will that stop all the trailers? It just bugs me that they are there in the first place. I bought the movie. I shouldn't have to skip through 5-6 trailers every time. Back in the day. Trailers were only on rental movies and never on the purchased copy.

It annoying. I have to stand there and babysit the disc to get to the title screen. I want to be able to throw the disc in, run to the bathroom, or mix a drink and be able to come back and start the movie. Noooo, I got to stand there and tap skip 6-7 times. By then my drink is gone and I've pissed my pants.

Some discs do have the option to go straight to the menu via your remote. Last edited by Todd Tomorrow; 01-08-2018 at 05:06 PM. |

I personally like 3-4 trailers before my movie starts as long as they can be skipped. I've discovered (and sometimes rediscovered) countless films this way. I agree that 7-8 trailers is excessive... I also hate it when they group trailers into one chapter stop so I can't skip individual trailers but instead it's all or nothing. Trailers are a part of the moving going experience however and so I appreciate seeing genre relevant ones before my movies most of the time. I also use that time, like you, to use the bathroom or prepare a snack on occasion.

Is a rash of trailers on a retail disc a first world problem? Of course. Then again, pretty much everything we complain about here at blu-ray.com is almost by definition a first world problem, no? Is looking for a way to eliminate trailers on a retail disc ridiculous? Eh, I dunno. That's a closer call, I think. And if we're talking about undefeatable trailers on a retail disc that close call becomes and unambiguous no: complaining about undefeatable trailers on a retail disc is not at all ridiculous. I hate that. Undefeatable trailers are frustrating enough on rental discs but they're downright maddening on retail discs. |

I have plenty of DVD's and VHS that I purchased from a retail location that has trailers before the movie. Not sure what the OP is talking about.
I personally don't mind a few trailers at that are skippable. My problem with trailers is going to Regal to watch a movie, start time is 7 but after 20 minutes of trailers the film finally begins. I have a local theater near me that isn't the greatest quality but when they have a start time, they mean the films starts at that time which I love. |

When I would buy used copies from blockbuster, I don't remember if they were VHS or DVD, but they always had trailers. When I would buy new copies from the movie store at the mall. They never had trailers. They added in trailers for the rental copies to get people to rent more movies.
