Surprised it's coming out in March, the other two season came out in July, shortly before the start of the new season. I wonder if they might be starting season four earlier than prior seasons.

I'll be all over this one. I haven't seen a show of the third season yet waiting for blu. Makes me want to watch the second season just to refresh my memory.

Great news...can't wait, I just hope season 3 loads as well as season 1. season 2 was terrible for loading. Buy the way, all three seasons are Classic.

I wonder if this was due to the main menu having the whiskey glass filling up? What a great show.

I'm making my way through the series on Blu now (just watched episode 6 of Season 2). I think it's fully deserving of all the accolades--some of the very best stuff I've seen in a TV series. Really addicting.

Good to know that Season 3 will be coming in a couple of months--by that time I should be totally finished with Seasons 1 & 2 (including all the commentaries and special features) and ready for more!

I've only watched this show once and couldn't really get into it. Basically because I didn't know who anyone was, what was going on, etc. I guess it was the second season.

Should I give it another try from the beginning? I did the same exact thing with Six Feet Under, I watched about 6 or 7 episodes of the first season but couldn't completely get into it, then I started watching season 5 on TV and wanted to watch more.

Unlike many other TV shows, 'Mad Men' benefits tremendously from being watched from the very beginning. You really need all the background to see what makes all the characters tick, what drives them, what motivates them. That said, the show isn't for everyone--it's pretty low-key and moves along fairly deliberately (euphemism for 'slowly' ) and is full of nuances and subtleties that are necessary to the understanding of what the show's all about. HUGE rewards, though, for those who stick with it.

I would agree completely with this. Start from the beginning. The show is best in its characterizations, not in advancing the plot at a rapid pace. Defining the characters as this show does makes the major changes and actions considerably more impactful when they do happen.

I can't wait for season 3 to hit, even though I've already watched it on AMC.

Maybe I'll watch the first couple of episodes and see if I like it. Most likely I won't, but I figured I'd give a try at least.

I'd suggest watching at least through episode 5 of Season 1 (it's a pivotal episode). If you're not hooked by then, then you probably won't enjoy the rest of the series......

Bumping this thread 'cause of Mad Men's third consecutive Golden Globe win as Best TV Drama a couple of days ago. Perhaps not a TV series for everyone, but it's certainly deserving of more attention. The Blu-rays (of Seasons 1 & 2) are truly of reference quality.

Can't wait for this. My current favorite show, and tied for Sopranos as my favorite all time--at least as dramas go.

March will be big with the Criterions that month as well.
