WILD SEARCH, Ringo Lam’s mature, heart-wrenching Hong Kong crime thriller starring Chow Yun-Fat & Cherie Chung, will be released on Blu-ray for the first time in the UK featuring a Limited-Edition O-card Slipcase & Collector’s Booklet (First Print Run of 2000 copies only). Available as a part of the Eureka Classics range from 19 July 2021.

Chow Yun-fat gives a career best performance in WILD SEARCH, his third collaboration with director Ringo Lam (CITY ON FIRE, FULL CONTACT).

Yun-fat plays Lau, a widowed police officer investigating a gang of gun runners. When a shootout with the criminals leaves a woman dead, and her daughter the only surviving witness, Lau must protect the young girl from the ruthless gang that wants her dead.

A loose reimagining of Peter Weir’s 1985 film WITNESS, WILD SEARCH showcases Ringo Lam’s often underrated versatility as a director. With beautiful cinematography by Andrew Lau (INFERNAL AFFAIRS) and a dreamy score by Lowell Lo, Eureka Classics is proud to present WILD SEARCH in its UK debut on Blu-ray.

I love Wild Search, and it means I can finally retire the ropey old MIA DVD.

Glad to see this will be in the correct aspect ratio as well.

Hopefully there'll be more Ringo Lam releases on the way.

Does this come with newly translated subtitles? I already own the HK Blu-ray and would only double-dip if the subtitles were improved.

Frank Djeng will be revising the English subtitles for this one in addition to providing an audio commentary. He posted on Facebook about redoing the subs and praising Cherie Chung's performances, said she's so much better here than in AN AUTUMN'S TALE (also with Chow Yun-Fat) and how she made him cry with her heartfelt acting.

It will be interesting to compare this edition with the Spectrum films edition. They are released in the same time. But only Eureka will have english subtitles.

It's a loose reworking of Witness, and I actually prefer it (whilst acknowledging that Witness is still a great film in its own right).

I would definitely recommend it, but don't expect an out-and-out gunplay/action film though - like Witness it is more of an earthy character drama which happens to have a few action scenes.

I really like Witness, so looking forward to this one. Hopefully, Full Contact and City of Fire aren't out of bound for licensing also in the future!

I hope so, I've put off buying the DVD for years because of the bad reviews. There is one on Ebay Uk going for about £7

The guys at 88 also might have a copy sat on their shelf.

No worries about the English dub for this release It will be included. Working on an extra that's not listed yet as well. Eureka always announce early so if anyone sees that a release is missing something or has an idea or suggestion please post or send me a PM. I read all your comments good and bad! Lol
