As many of us know, the ps3 has had an increase in sales since the price drop and the newer 40 GB model. In terms of hardware sales and software sales, how do you think Sony will do for the holiday season against Microsoft and Sony?

I'm sorry, the third option should read that the ps3 will not do well this holiday season, but will do well next year or the year after.

Microsoft wins that battle everytime! They just keep throwing money at Microsoft and Microsoft folds like a lawn chair. What won't Microsoft do for a $150M? Oh yeah, sell anything that works.

The only competition for the PS3 (sales wise) is the Wii. But the Wii isn't competition for the PS3 as they are very different machines and aimed at different people and can co-exist. Although at the moment here in the UK nobody has any Wii for sale, everywhere you look it says out of stock. Which can only help PS3 sales

The only competition the PS3 has is the 360, and as far as I'm concerned the 360 is now old news, people want the PS3 and now that it's cheaper more and more people will buy one.

And we all know that the more momentum the PS3 gets the sooner this format war will end (just think of Juggernaut from X-men, once it starts you can't stop it). Fudders and Dudders can think and say what they like, the PS3 is going to win this war along with Disney (I seriously need The Incredibles on Blu-Ray) and the announcement of Star Wars for Blu-Ray (come on, you know it has to be coming at some point). Having Transformers is one thing (and that didn't work out too well did it

), but having Star Wars takes it to a whole new level.

I know we are all enthusiastic about the PS3, but, we have to be reasonable....American teenagers have flocked to the X360...it is really sad. My kids were extremely disappointed when I brought home the PS3 instead of the 360....until they realized what it could do.

I think that the tide is definitely shifting in Sony's favor, but, it will be a year or two before it continually outsells the 360...

All we can do is keep spreading the goodness of the PS3 around...it will catch...it just takes time...

Blu-Ray winning out later next year will for sure help the situation...

Honestly, a big thing the PS3 has for it.. is most gamers already have a 360.. and since the PS3 is now starting to kick ass they will be buying a PS3 as well. The PS3 has more total audience. Tons of Xbox people have been holding off on a PS3 until it gets more games.. because the 360 easily holds them over.

I believe the PS3 will do great this holiday season. Right now I think the Wii will still out sale it even though I would rather have the PS3. The XBox 360 will be a distance third. I imagine micro$oft is working right to get their next console (after the 360) out ASAP to keep up with the PS3.
