Default thedigitalbits.com on 1.1?

We're hearing that the BD-Java 1.1 firmware update for the PS3 will be released in late December, just in time for the first Blu-ray software titles set to employ it, and the full 2.0 update may not be far behind.

That's awesome news if it's correct. I think we all knew that the PS3 would firmware update to both 1.1 and 2.0 though.

1.1 = cool, 2.0 = cool

Just need DTS-MA decoding, and the circle will be complete.

You'd think the bits would know better than to call it BD-Java though..

Personally I want internal DTS-MA decoding more than any of the 1.1 or 2.0 features.

Ditto on DTS-MA since I have an old pre-HDMI receiver...

But our insiders have already flat out stated (not to mention it being painfully obvious) that the PS3 would AUTOMATICALLY be 2.0 compliant if it was given the 1.1 features, as it already has >1 Gb storage and an internet connection.

Unless they intentionally cripple it in the software to not connect to the net? That would be a dumb move (but typical of computer companies).
