Default So i was talking to a co-worker

Who is an xbox fan....

He was trying to bash the ps3 based on his knowledge of the ps2 and reference details from his xbox.

coworker : doesnt the ps3 use memory cards to save games?
me: response, nope it comes standard with hard drive
coworker: really I thought it didnt come standard with an HD like the xbox, but at least xbox takes advantage of the hd with its online store and you can download alot of demos
me: ummm there is an online for sony , although its new it is there and as an added note It comes standard with blu-ray and hdmi.
coworker: component is good enough and the newer version has hdmi

All I could say this conversation made me chuckle a bit.

It's sad sometimes how easily people will believe FUD from the other side just because its popular to hate Sony these days.

90% of my best buy is that way with the 360. i own every system and like them all. i lean towards ps3 on everything, get my wii exclusives and only buy 360 exclusives used so i dont help sales for that system. i have a hard time talking with people i work with about this because they are uninformed and dont care about what is true, but only what they think.

You may have every system, but it doesn't sound like you like them all. Sounds like you don't care for the Xbox 360, if you like them all you would buy the games new for every system.

it really upsets me when people spew misinformation like that Sony, from my expieriance, are a quality corporation, meaning thier products lean to the more expensive side but it's worth it, PS3 is an excellent example it has the BD drive, and Cell processor, if you compare the other 2 consoles the PS3 beats them in specs, and the PS3 has a low failure rate. When you look at the processors for each gaming system the Cell processor appears to be overkill but that makes the PS3 more expandable, later on in this generations consoles life, the Xbox 360 will find itself so limited with a DVD drive and I think a 3 core PPC CPU, I'm guessing that by 2010 there will be no comparison in gaming when it comes to PS3 Vs. 360.

Sony also made a brilliant move with the PS3 the BD playback functionality, let's say Kmart went HD-DVD Exclusive, would they have to stop selling the PS3? that's a grey area due to the fact it's a gaming console, and that might reduce the chance of a store going HD-DVD exclusive (they don't want to lose the PS3 sales if they have to stop selling the PS3 due to it's BD playback), but if they do they might just be able to sell the PS3 because it's a gaming console not a standalone.

What's funny how the Best Buy my b/f works for went from being 60% blue to now 95% blu in employee support. I stopped by today and all the new seasonal employees are pitching blu to the customers.

I had to chuckle cause it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see they where probably trained my b/f the way they are pitching blu-ray. lol

You don't have to have one. I got directly from my modem, as its a quicker connection than wireless. I do have a wireless adapter, but i only use it if i move my box to the bedroom.

Sony's online store is a good start. I really perfer the interface that XboxLive uses though.

A guy I work with at Wally World is big M$ supporter. We got into a discussion about the 360 versus the PS3. He said that they had a 3 year warranty and that was better. So I told him I would rather have a one year warranty with a proven system as opposed to one with a 33% failure rate. What I think is funny is that I can counter every argument he makes and he still doesn't get it.

who cares? buy whatever system you like, and the others are of no concern to you. i dont see the point of arguing over which is better. they are all very different at the moment.

It doesn't bother me if someone likes the 360 better than the PS3. What bothers me is if they don't know what they are talking about. Someone who doesn't even know what blu-ray is, for example, needs to be informed. Someone who compares the 360 and PS3 based solely on games needs to understand that the PS3 is much more than a game machine. Having a differing opinion is perfectly fine, but there is a lot of things people don't know. When your opinion is based on misinformation and preconceived notions I will step in and offer facts.

I'm going to have to agree with Raginranger here. Who cares what other people think, For every Xbox 360 owner who hates the PS3, there's a PS3 owner who hates the Xbox 360. There are opinions based on misinformation and preconceived notions on both sides.

Amen, ignorance of technology or the facts is one thing I can't stand, I love technology, my life revolves around it I bought the PS3 for the BD and cell processor, BD from a technical stand point is superior to HD-DVD is every meaningful way (some people prefer the region free feature of HD-DVD and it has internet functionality something we will have in a short while)

alot of people I've noticed from my debates picked HD-DVD because it was cheaper, some don't understand the technology, when I debate them I get alot of FUD or mis-information something I just can't stand, I explain things to them in great detail if need be but I want everyone to know and understand the truth, the sooner the better, if they know the technology b4 buying thier cheaper HD-DVD player they might have thought twice if they wanted cheap or quality, but then they could have made an informed choice.

That's not to say that all HD-DVD users weren't informed but if the amount of FUD and mis-information is any indication I have to say a large number didn't understand the technology. the important thing I'm pushing is know the technology do the research b4 you put money down in this format war or any other major purchase for that matter, Knowledge is power.

There is nothing wrong with being informed. If someone wanted a system purely for gaming, I would suggest the Xbox 360. If someone wanted a game system for casual gaming and was interested in Hi-Def movies, I would suggest the PS3. I chose the PS3 because I wanted a Blu-ray player, the games are kind of a small bonus for me. However, I am not some crazy PS3 fanboy. I know where the Xbox 360 offers more and I know where it comes p short. There is nothing wrong with offering up some facts. I dont care if someone prefers the Xbox 360, but I do care when they start spreading misinformation that will deter others from getting PS3s, who might have preferred it knowing all the facts. I don't like it when others spread misinformation about the Xbox 360 either, although I havent seen to much of that.

I couldn't agree with you more - at least at this stage in their lifespans anyway. I do see the PS3 possibly being better for both types eventually, but not today.

I currently see the 360 as a better Gaming system, and the PS3 as a better entertainment system

There's nothing wrong with being informed and there's nothing wrong with offering facts. I was just saying that it's a two way street. Misinformation and preconceived notions are on both sides. I'm not talking about this site; I'm just talking about in general.
