Default 'Insidious 2'

Quote:
INSIDIOUS Sequel in the Works; James Wan Returns to Direct for 2013 Release

One of the most successful films profit-wise from last year was James Wan’s Insidious. The horror pic was made for a mere $1.5 million and ended up grossing over $95 million. That’s quite a hefty profit. Given the film’s success, it was pretty much guaranteed to get a sequel. Now it’s official, as Variety reports that a follow-up is currently in the works for a 2013 release. The creative team behind the first film, director James Wan and screenwriter Leigh Whannell, are coming back for the second go-around, and James Blum is coming back to produce. Whannell had this to say regarding the sequel:

Quote:
“It is with great excitement that we announce our commitment to a second installment of this story. Both of us feel that we can mine more terror from the world we created and know that if we assemble every member of the original team, we will have an amazing continuation of the story for fans of the first film.”
Production is set to get underway later this year, but plot details are (predictably) being kept under wraps. Head to the comments to sound off on where you think the sequel will go. Wan will next direct Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga in the supernatural thriller The Conjuring.

I liked the first half of the original, but it got way too narmy towards the end - a waste of potential, IMO. If they tone it down for the sequel it could be good.

The first half scared the ^%$& out of me in theatres! I seen it like 3 weeks later and it was at the less popular theatre in town, so it was just me and my friends, and some older woman way in back. I sat way up front (smaller screen) and I jumped so many times. Good fun.

The second half went downhill fast.

I wish they'd stop making sequels to everything that makes money. But I'll see anything with Patrick Wilson in it.

Hopefully it is more stable than the first. The first half was pretty good, but the second have was a pathetic joke.

As soon as this movie was over, I wanted a sequel. I normally don't do that with horror movies...but this is definitely a story I wanted to see continued

Didn't expect a sequel, but I'd definitely be up to seeing it. The first one surprised me cause I didn't expect to like it. Sounds good.. hopefully they crank out another winner.

I was not really a fan of the first, so I'll pass. I found it difficult to even pay attention to in the 2nd half.

I know, right?

This might just boil down to personal taste, but I usually find myself enjyoing action and sci-fi movie sequels way more than horror movie sequels. Some horror movies have produced awful sequels. Then again, some horror movies wound up forming huge franchises with dozens and dozens of movies. So, based on that alone, I say it could be good or bad.

As far as "Insidious" goes, it's good that they're keeping the same director, and it sounds like it'll tie in directly to the first film. As long as they don't make the same mistakes as the first film, it might actually be great.
