Question How do you prioritize your Bluray purchases?

I have a huge problem!
I want to buy 100s of Blurays, and each time that I'm about to buy something, I may spend hours trying to decide what to buy first! It's quite tormenting!

eg. let's say I have 50 euros I want to spend.
I can't decide if I'll buy a Ghibli Japan Bluray (which is alone around that price), or 6-7 cheap Blurays of movies I like, or maybe an OOP steelbook etc..

How do you decide?
Do you buy those which are cheaper at that moment?
DO you buy first your most favourites? Limited editions that may go soon OOP?

I buy films i love, ones that have alot of replay value of course. Ill buy cheaper blus if im out and about that i want to add to my collection. But, i also save up for stuff i really want as well. I have a pretty expensive september coming with everything i preordered but its worth it to me. Film is one of my hobbies that i love so i spend money on it when can.

Yes, of course I'll buy films that I love too.
The problem is that I love all those I want to buy, and i don't know what to buy first..

I buy whatever is more in line with my mood, mindset or fandom at the moment. I splurged hard on Chris Pine movies last week. Why? Cause it felt right.

Edit: I just realized how sexual the above comment sounded...

Top priority is limited editions. Second is the more obscure titles from smaller studios. My lowest priority are mainstream titles from the big studios. They will be widely available and cheaper later if you're patient.

Well, I think I usually do something like that too.
I never buy mainstream movies when they are first released, unless it's something I really really love..

Right now I have this dilemma:

option 1:

Spirited Away Japanese Bluray (digipack)

option 2:
Commando OOP Zavvi steelbook

option 3:
James Dean Boxset + 1 Bluray more

option 4:
Cocktail + Predator (2008) + Far & Away + Stand By Me + ?

option 5:
Three Colors Trilogy (Criterion sale)

Maybe in the end I'll end up with option 1, since I really like these releases and i've just started collecting them.

My favorite movies or favorite types of movies go to the top of the priority stack simply because they're the movies that I want. Classic era film noir movies from the 1940s and 1950s, for example, get first priority under any circumstance.

After that, I go for limited edition releases.

If I see a great deal, in financial terms, for a Blu-ray that has intrigued me for a long time, then I move that purchase to the top of the priority list. Buying the Zatoichi: The Blind Swordsman set for less than $100 was one such example.

This actually sums me up perfectly. The price tracker and Hot Deals forum are invaluable tools too.

Buy the one you want to watch the most right now. If that's what will make you the happiest and be the most enjoyable, go for that film/set.

• 1. Limited Editions of movies I know I will watch time and time again.
• 2. Disney Animated Collection (almost all caught up)
• 3. Catalogue Releases (i.e.~latest "The Little Rascals")
• 4. Criterions (I've never been let down)

• 5. New Release Blind Buys

New release movies that I've already seen at the cinema are my lowest priorities even if I do want them. I will wait until I can get a good deal. A limited edition title or just a really outrageously good deal on eBay or at JB will get first priority.

Basically, I prioritize for films from the 40s-70s and idgaf about the tripe that comes out nowadays.

I agree with the others about prioritizing limited editions, though. I try not to spend too much on Blu-Rays and I probably spend more than I should anyway, but for example last month I came across The Big Heat (limited to 3000) on Amazon for $35 and I just had to jump on that.

I guess I prioritize by the deal/price and if I really want to have it on Bluray. Then again there are not too many more titles that I need on Bluray.

I just recently was deciding on these..

Friday the 13th Collection - 12 movies for $65 shipped -purchased
Halloween Collection - 10 movies for $65 shipped -purchased
Exorcist Collection - 5 movies for $20 shipped -purchased
Synapse Demons - 1 movie with extras for $46 shipped, one of my favorites but -pass (my 1080p MKV file looks great)
Leprechaun Collection - 7 movies for $27 shipped, they're fun films to watch but there are other movies I would rather have that money go to, so -pass (good deal, but will also just settle for some 1080p MKV files of this set - under $20 and I might go for it)

Favorite Films > Steelbooks > Price

I always get the films I love and they come before anything, then I go for any steelbook at reasonable prices and then I bargain hunt
