Whoa! I never expected that it would make it to Blu-ray.

Any more info?

They did a DVD version a while back - but certainly, I agree, a movie I didn't think would end on Blu-Ray!

Fan...tastic! A huge favourite 60's film.

Let's hope that Eureka have a few more Universal movies in the pipeline.

April is looking interesting. The War Lord, a re-mastered The Good The Bad & The Ugly & a (hopefully) great looking 55 Days At Peking. And I'm sure a few other titles to come.

I don't normally pre-order, but Amazon has a pre-order price of £10.84, which isn't bad (& free p&p), so I pulled the trigger. A LOT cheaper than a Twilight Time price.

Don't think so, didn't they release Bad Boy Bubby via that series a few years back

It's only ever been shown on UK tv with the sides cropped, so with hopefully a clean print and the full 2.35:1 ratio this will be a real treat. One of my favourite Chuck movies in which he is very well cast.

The Eureka DVD has very good picture quality and has the same extras (other than the booklet) so I'm doubtful that it's worth the upgrade. I'm long past the point of replacing my DVDs just because a Blu-ray comes along!

It was released through Eureka "regular line".

The "Eureka Classics" logo (also seen on Violent Saturday) is new.

It's on Channel Four tomorrow in HD at 12.20. I get Channel Four in HD & I could record it, but I think I'll wait for the Blu-ray. I thought the Blu would be the same transfer as the DVD, but looking at the differences in colour & density between the DVD & Blu over at DVD Beaver, it looks like a new transfer.

Default War Lord ch 4HD

According to TVTimes, The War Lord broadcast will be "edited"

I've ordered the blu. This is an excellent film.

And one never knows if they will crop the sides of the image or not. Last transmission they did, and last week they showed the Sam Peckinpah western Ride The High Country with ades hacked off, in spite of a beautifully restored image, with no dirt or scatches, and vibrant colours. Last time it was broadcast it was full 2.35:1 so I wonder who makes the decisions to crop and pan and scan when they have a full aspect ratio print available.
War Lord may well be pan and scan and edited, as it is in the afternoon and kiddies don't like bare breasts and too much violence, according to the authorities!

Well, my shipping notification came from Amazon earlier today, I'm on Prime, so it should be here Monday

Looking forward to watching a restored version - I remember seeing it on the TV way back in the 70's. It was on the Beeb when they used to show movies in primetime slots - long before the days of VCR and more than 3 TV channels

Ahh - the 'old days' LOL.

watched this one 3 days ago. the movie was "OK" .. cant be compared to the MoC line. Videoquality is most of the time pretty decent but the first 10 mins look horrible.

for me it was a "fun" movie to watch after a hard working day.

the total lack of bonus features is a little disapointing. but there is a nice booklet and a reversable cover.

.
The opening of the film on 35mm has always looked like that, due to the use of filters to achieve that early morning mist look.

Maybe even the old trick of Vaseline around the edges of a clear filter... ahh, once again, the 'old days' before everything was fixed in post and messed about with digitally

Only just noticed has been discontinued. Got awhile back fortunately, Heston certainly was suited to this type of film.
