Default Lego should make sports games

Was thinking about this last night. I think a Lego Sports series could potentially be a lot of fun! It would be a nice alternative from all the officially licensed sports games. They could make them very simple to play with a heavy emphasis on arcade gameplay. Plus there's a lot of opportunity there for classic Lego "high jinx."

What do you guys think?

Isn't that called Nintendo?

No. I'm sick of everything being LEGO's now.

That actually sounds like a decent idea. The problem for me is I like playing sports games because I can play as my favorite team. I would, at least, like to have the official team name and logos.

I thought I felt the same way until Marvel Legos came out and it instantly became my favorite of the entire series!

And please don't get me wrong. I'm not universally panning the entire genre(?). I'm sure there's some great games they make (I've tried some of the originals but they never stuck with me, always seemed very dumbed down and by the numbers) but I just feel it's an over saturated license.

I would however certainly enjoy some great playing, simple to pick up and play sports games that aren't retail priced.

I actually quite enjoy Lego games now. Marvel was the first one I played. They are easy and relaxing and usually have a whole lot of stuff to find and do. But sports games, I think for most, need to be a good simulation to be fun. If the gameplay mechanics do not feel real (as real as sports with a Dualshock can) it won't hold anyone's attention. And as someone said, Nintendo already holds the market for cartoon sports.

Now, I think the Lego developers could create a tongue in cheek sports game, much as their other games are innocent lampoons, and make Lego World Series or Lego World Cup and make it more of a sports theme adventure rather than an actual sports simulator. While not a soccer (football) fan, I could envision a game adventuring around Brazil and the different venues as favorite players, managers and officials with exaggerated skillsets, battling jungle animals, criminal gangs, rowdy football fans. Pele could be a healer. LOL.

That's all well and good for those who own Nintendo consoles. But what about people who own PS4's and Xbox One's? Shouldn't those types of games be made available to them as well?

I envision a scenario where let's say in a football game, you can hit a player so hard they burst into smaller Lego pieces and a trainer comes out with a broom and dust pan and sweeps the pieces up. LOL!

While I enjoyed the SW, DC & Marvel Lego games, they need to slow down a bit with the Lego games IMO.

Lego Assassin's Creed could be a great franchise builder.

I don't know about LEGO sports, but something like an open world RPG or Minecraft style game could be pretty smart idea right now.

Why? They're all different properties. If the games are good and appeal to the kids, why should they stop?

Lol no interest. I have Lego Marvel Super Heroes. It is entertaining to play with the girlfriend on two player mode when she is here. But other than that it's just a little kids game I wouldn't bother with.
