I don't see why it wouldn't be real. The studio, Soul Media is real. It will probably use an HD master made for broadcasting in 1080i. And the audio will probably just be in Dolby Digital.

Nah, probably in DTS HD-MA.

Wow! Never though this would get a blu release, I don't even care if it's 1080i since it never even got a real DVD release!

Same release date as Pentathlon with Dolphy!

If it's the same quality as the UK BD and the UK and Australian BD of Chuck Norris' Octagon, Force of One and Good Guys Wear Black, then that will be really cool even if only 1080i and even if only a tad better than an upscale as there are no decent DVDs for any of them to date.

This film is easily one of my favorite "guilty pleasure" movies! I do hope it's true HD (even 1080i), and not just an upconvert. I currently have the Australian DVD which is pretty good, but HD is always nice

Btw, how easy is it to order a Scandinavian blu-ray? I've only ever done UK and Japan thus far.

I really enjoyed this film the first time I saw it.....around 1987.
Watched it again a year ago on a official dvd......only 4:3 picture format and mono sound.
Some of the fighting scenes was still cool but other than that the movie wasnt that good.

I got this Scandinavian edition from Soul Media last week. Did not watch the whole movie but registered the following.

It is the longer International Cut, storyline and fights fleshed out, but with an inferior soundtrack in my opinion.

Transfer is very filmic in the positive sense, but regrettably a lot of specks and scratches mar the image throughout. Resolution is improved, however, and many shots are surprisingly sharp (others not so much). Colours look fine. But overall, it is a transfer that could have used a little more love and care. Being a low-budget film with and audience mostly consisting of people who grew up with it in the 80s, I cannot see that any studio is going the distance to release a pristine print anytime soon.

Sound felt very limited and lo-fi, the cheesy 80s music coming across as very thin and fragile with no oomph in the bass.

Edition feels a bit cheap, no info on resolution or audio quality. Soul Media is the Danish distributor to Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark, and this could be the same transfer that will be released by Umbrella Ent on the 6th of March. We'll know for sure next week.

Depending on your demands, I think you still can get quite an amount of guilty pleasure out of this bluray. The PQ isn't much worse than it was back in the 80s.

I second this question. Also, are there any extras at all? (Trailers, photos, etc).

No extras whatsoever.

1:78 if I recall. (There is no info on the cover)

Improvement, yes. Looks more like film, less like video. Clarity and colours strong most of the time. Blacks not perfect. But generally looks very good. Still, image could have been cleaned up a tad bit more.

Sound is not too impressive.

Hope this helps.

It does Outside of the theatrical release, this film has NEVER had a widescreen transfer! Despite the print damage, does the transfer look sharp enough to be true HD and not an upconvert?

Frankly, I'm not qualified to see the difference. But again it looks very filmic, which had me believe it is a HD scan of a negative. But I may be proved wrong. I think it looks a lot better than a DVD - minus the print damage.

Well, it does sound quite promising! I guess the only other video question I have is how good is the contrast? The UK/Australian DVD's contrast was a pinch "blown out"/too bright in the lighter areas, causing detail to get washed out.

I thought contrast was quite well handled, brights not too 'hot' and blacks not too 'crushed'. But there's a lo-fi feel to the image regardless, so don't expect any miracles.
