Laurence Olivier's Hamlet won Best Picture, Best Actor, and Best Art Direction and Best Costume Design in the Black and White categories. The Treasure of the Sierra Madre won Best Director, Best Supporting Actor and Best Screenplay. The Red Shoes won Best Dramatic or Comedy Score and Best Art Direction in the Color category. Johnny Belinda only won Best Actress and The Snake Pit only won Best Sound Recording.
