"Mortal Kombat" Remake: Your Dream Cast? - Blu-ray Forum

New Line's been trying to get a reboot off the ground for years, but it keeps getting stalled. So, if you could cast your own film adaptation, who would you pick for the various characters, and why? Here's my list...

Liu Kang: Booboo Stewart
Johnny Cage: Joel Kinnaman
Sonya Blade: Anna Paquin
Shang Tsung: Arnold Vosloo

I'm having trouble with picking someone for Rayden, since my mind keeps going back to Christopher Lambert's sarcastic laugh. I also can't think of anybody for Kano or Shao Kahn. Scorpion and Sub-Zero would be difficult, unless they showed their origins first. I'd also want the humanoid version of Reptile, instead of a temperamental CGI lizard. Ed Boon should definitely provide Scorpion's voice, though.

The later games are really gruesome, but the earlier ones are less "intense" by comparison. The finishing moves were very quick, and not zoomed or slowed for detail.

I'd get Jet Li in there....perhaps as Shang Tsung....Zhang Ziyi would be a definite, but as who....I'm unsure. Donnie Yen would be cast as well.

I'd have Bridget Regan as Sonya Blade, and if I had my way Tom Hardy as Kano.

Raiden's outfit always make me think he should be Asian. Maybe Jet Li? His kung fu experience would definitely help. He really showed his acting chops in Fearless.
I'd like 2 really good martial artists for Sub Zero and Scorpion. If known actors were cast in those parts, they'd probably have to take the masks off to have face time. Tom Hardy could pseudo reprise his Bane role as Shao Kahn.
I also want to see some really good choreography by way of Yuen Wo Ping. If someone takes a serious approach to it, it could be really good.
