United Kingdom [rec] Autumn 2010

After enquiring about [rec] on Blu-ray from the rights holder in the UK (E1 Entertainment who now own the former rights holder Contender Home Entertainment) I received the following reply:

"Hello

Thank you for your inquiry. There is a blue ray disc release planned for the UK market in the autumn of 2010. Please check with your local retail stores for more information regarding the release date closer to this time.

Best wishes"

Roll on Autumn!

I would confirm that that is in regards to the original [rec] and not [rec] 2, which is scheduled for 20th September...

After emailing back and requesting confirmation I received the following reply:

"Yes. Both titles will receive a blue ray release.

Best wishes"

There we have it.

Wish they'd stop referring to it as blue ray though!

Cheers for the news, loved the film. I also hate when they refer it to 'Blue Ray' even Argos has an advertisement for a BD player and called it 'Blue Ray' you would think their marketing team would know the difference!

Wonder if they will release it 1080i50, or convert it some way to 24p? If not, not likely to be able to be played on most region A players

I hate to sound blashpemous, but given it was shot on an interlaced source I'm still considering buying the DVD from the UK. Has anyone seen a rec Blu Ray and have any comments on image quality?

It was shot at 1080i50hz so it's still miles better than DVD resolution. But yeah if you're player do not convert 50i to 60i/p you're doomed..

I have the [REC] Blu-Ray from Spain and a Region Free player and I'm in California so it plays fine. Looks pretty great for 1080i. I think that's the best it can look. Pretty good detail, not a lot of deep color though. But the detail is definitely better than the DVD version that was released here in America.
I wonder if [REC] will ever get a release on Blu-Ray in America. I think it's Sony that has the rights to it. I know that the 2nd one is owned by Magnolia for the U.S. though..
