Only took them 5 years lol I always enjoyed this one more. No digital doesn't surprise me, the first didn't have it and with UV dead by then and Paramount not being part of MA, what other choice would they have?

Thank goodness for awful new movies that give us tie-in BD releases of old classics!

The new animated film looks dreadful, but it finally brought the brilliant AFV to BD, so I forgive it. Rudnick's script is impossibly clever and witty, I adore it.

Same with the abysmal Robin Hood movie last year that finally gave us Robin & Marian on BD.

I adore all things Addams, so I'll give the new movie a chance - but I'm not entirely sold on it. I think an animated film would have been a better fit for Laika.

In regards to Values, I've got this in HD on Ultraviolet and iTunes and both are based on a DVD era master that is riddled with print damage and has a sizable amount of telecine wobble. Hopefully Paramount has done a new scan.
I've noticed Sleepy Hollow is also being reissued the week prior - perhaps it will have a new transfer?

The existing Warner/Paramount version of Addams Family '91 is quite nice, especially when compared to the UK version from MGM which is slathered in DNR and the Digital UV/ITunes Version from Paramount which looks to be 1080i and slathered in Edge Enhancement.

The flawless Joan Cusack was ROBBED of an Oscar nomination for this, as was Christina Ricci. But the whole cast is magnificent.

It's amazing how little I like the original, yet how much I absolutely love this one.
Paul Rudnik knocked this one out of the park!!

This is very rare but this one made me appreciate the first a lot more. It's still not exactly good but it's at least enjoyable.

Couldn't agree more. The original has a couple of fun moments, but it's not something I would rewatch. Values is a masterpiece, a perfect mix of a genius script that balances an impossible tone, flawless direction, and a once-in-a-generation cast.

Part of what makes this film, and the Addams Family world in general, so great is something either Sonnenfeld of Rudnick said at the time - despite how different they are, the Addams Family members all love each other and support each other, they're the most functional family around.

It's likely I'll buy the 2 movie set eventually regardless, but I'd be far more inclined to scoop it up right away if they could throw in some new bonus features. I doubt Paramount will want to invest in doing so, but some sort of retrospective would be fantastic.

I really liked the original.....but LOVE this one. I don't get why this did badly in theaters.

Snagging this for sure.
