United Kingdom Looking - Season 1

Looking (he he) to pick this up after hearing good things. Had it preordered with Zavvi but they can't be bothered to post it it seems. Does anyone know what HMV are selling it for? If it's reasonable I'll cancel my online order and pop along to my local store. Thanks.

It's £22.99 in HMV. I bought it today.

It's a good show, but 23 quid for 8 x 25 minute eps is outrageous.

I'll get it when it hits a tenner.

The thing though, as I'm sure you know, if everyone did that, season 2 is guaranteed to be released on DVD only.

It's HBO you'll be waiting a while. It took a year for Veep S1 to hit a tenner for a few days, and 2 for it to stay there...

While I was in HMV I managed to convince myself to pay £18 for Spirited Away, rather than waiting for it to drop in price, and then discovered all four copies had damaged slipcases. I generally don't mind paying full price for blu-rays but full price catalogue title + damage is something I'm still getting to grips with.

I can understand why people would be reluctant to pay £22.99 for Looking. It's only 2 discs and there are no special features, apart from commentaries, to act as a sweetener. In the age of catch up TV blu-ray distributors need to raise their game.

I'm looking forward to season two. I'm hoping for more Doris, Riche and Frank.

HBO prices are a joke. I know their quality is fantastic, but still not enough to warrant the price tags they charge.

If something isn't released it means it just didn't sell the units as a whole during it's run. Obviously Americans didn't sell so they wouldn't release the next season. Same goes for Glee which is pretty much a kids programme and didn't sell on the more expensive format and has been on diminishing returns (and viewers) for a very long time. Modern Family has obviously slowed in sales with each season as well. It has nothing to do with them not selling at full price, it has more to do with the fact they didn't sell at any price.

I don't bawk at paying 23 quid for 13 one hour eps of Hannibal with a ton of extras, but 23 quid for 8 x 30 minute eps is just out of the question.

Got this from Amazon for £20. I love it! Haven't seen all the episodes as of yet but I have enjoyed it was rather surprised that episodes are only 30 mins or less :/

Will be finishing this series of tonight.
