Default I AM BIG BIRD - documentary about Caroll Spinney - Sesame Street

Hi everyone,

Sorry if anyone else has posted this.

'Copper Pot Pictures' has a Kickstarter project running at the moment (ends on the 16th of this month) to make a documentary about Caroll Spinney. Caroll has been Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch on Sesame Street ever since the first episode.

They are trying to raise $100,000 so that they can finish the documentary, and so far they've raised almost $67,000.

On Kickstarter, you can help them raise the money by pre-ordering the DVD or Blu-Ray. The DVD is $25 and the Blu-Ray is $50. Or you have pre-order a DVD or Blu-Ray signed by Caroll Spinney for $100.

There's also a limited edition version of the Blu-Ray for $125. It's a 2-disc set which is signed by Caroll Spinney and has an exclusive cover designed by him.
At the moment there's 26 of them left.

Quote from Copper Pot Pictures about the 2 disc set:

Quote:
In addition to having jacket art designed by Caroll Spinney, this special edition is going to be chock full of extras. We have access to literally hundreds of hours of video and thousands of photos from Caroll's archive. There's just not enough room in the film for all that material. Still, we know fans want to see it, so we're going to get as much of it as we can on this 2-disc set.
This 2-disc special edition is a KICKSTARTER EXCLUSIVE. You will only be able to get it here.
Trailer for documentary:

Lots of 'Behind the Scenes' footage (from Sesame Street and other things Caroll has been in) which is going to be used in the doc: https://copperpotpictures.jux.com/ia...ductionjournal

Only 9 days of the Kickstarter left. Copper Pot tweeted yesterday that if they don't get to $100,000 by then, they won't be able to finish the documentary.

I really want this doc to be made!!!

Oh, and by the way it says there is only 7 of the limited edition Blu-Rays left.

Another sort of trailer for documentary:

One of my personal favourite clips posted by Copper Pot, which they plan on using in the documentary:

You pay with 'Amazon Payments', and your money is only taken if they get to $100,000.

The limited edition Blu-Ray is now sold-out, but you can still get the normal Blu-Ray (or DVD), or the signed Blu-Ray (or DVD).

RRRRRG. I want the special edition. I just read about the Kickstarter now. I knew that this was in the making, after I saw the fantastic Being Elmo: A Puppeteer's Journey.

Damn.

You can still get the 2 disc version as part of the $350 option which also includes a invitation to a 60 minute group video chat with Caroll Spinney.
I wanted to go for that option. It would have been amazing, but I really can't afford it.

Yeah..... $99 would have been my top dollar. Which is even saying a lot, even if it is a Kickstarter project. $99 for a Documentary Blu-Ray is completely insane.

I don't want to speculate. But what I assume will happen is that the Kickstarter won't reach it's goal. And to generate more money and interest they'll have the 2-disc special edition (not signed) for around $50-70. Cause it's really weird to have such a small quantity. I mean I wan't to donate, but I don't want the DVD or 1-disc Blu-Ray edition. So, I'm trapped.

I agree that $99 is A LOT for a documentary Blu-Ray, and for a few days I didn't go for it, but the more I thought about it the more I realised that for me it's worth it for a documentary like this. In fact, I ended up going for the $125 option.

I'd love the 2 disk too, but it was just too much for me to pay 125.00. Plus it is 17.00 for shipping for me.

I would buy the 2 disk for 50 bucks though (plus shipping), and I bet they would make their goal if they now gave that option.

Only 7 days to go, but It's nearly at $80,000, so I think there is a good chance that they'll make their target. I hope.

Seems crazy to make 80.000 and stop. They need to add some more sponsorship incentives, extend the collection period, and they will make their goal!

Or is their something that stops them extending it?

I don't think they can extend it on Kickstarter. But I think you're right about adding more sponsorship incentives.

Yes! Big Bird will finally make the leap to blu-ray! (with the exception of his cameo in The Muppets Take Manhattan)
