Default Is There Any Reason Why A Few Fox Titles Offer iTunes DC While Most Don't?

Walter Mitty had one (and they finally switched to an HD download code instead of the SD disk-based DC). I think this was the first 2014 Fox release to include an iTunes DC (pretty sure they stopped offering them at the end of 2013). I'm not sure how many others there are, but I see that The Other Woman, whole Blu-ray is now on sale for $12.99, offers one too.

Is it totally random? I guess I'd rather 2 got iTunes DC's rather than none getting them, but I don't understand how they're doing it.

Itunes codes with dvds and bluray are slowly being phased out. I think Fox is down to just offering them with the bigger releases.

It's totally random. Dawn of Planet of the apes is supposed to have one, Rio 2 had one, but even more obscure titles like Oculus had one. Can't find a correlation.

Warner and Sony went UV-only, but Universal and Paramount offer iTunes, Fox sometimes does, and then there's Disney. Fox's unpredictable offerings are weird but not new. There's no indication that any studio currently offering iTunes is going to stop so "slowly being phased out" is specious.

I don't think Oculus had an iTunes code.

Lionsgate also does it randomly with supposedly "big" movies. So far just Hunger Games and I, Frankenstein. But all Summit titles have both.

I don't think Oculus had an iTunes code either. I specifically didn't buy it because the back said Digital HD with UtltraViolet.

But Fox Titles with Digital HD with iTunes have been

Walter Mitty, Rio 2, and The Other Woman

Hopefully X-Men DOFP and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes will. and the way things look, they should. maybe even Peabody and Sherman

It's great that Universal, Paramount, & Disney are still iTunes with all their releases. It's just weird for Fox to be so random. You'd think they'd either have them or not. Again, I prefer a few over none at all…it's just hard to figure. I ended up buying the EE of The Fault In Our Stars for $20 ($16 really, as I bought it with a code I'd bought at 20% off) on iTunes because I didn't know if Fox would be including an iTunes DC with that one. Still don't know.

I try to figure Fox out once in while. I thought i had it, seeing most co productions with TSG having iTunes codes, all but 4 so far. (The Counselor, The Book Thief, Devil's Due, and, The Grand Budapest Hotel) Of those 4 none were major hits and Budapest was a Fox Searchlight, which non offer iTunes anymore. (but the back of the box just say digital HD, like they were going to put iTunes on but didn't and left it all blank)

So The Fault in Our Stars may come with iTunes as it was a TSG co-production and successful at the box office.
