Default Little Mermaid - difference

What is the difference between these other than the slipcover?

Also, did anyone get the 3D version? Is it worth it over the 2D? i.e. were the pop up effects worth it? I don't see this as a real 3D worthy movie but I could be wrong.

2D BD disc: There is the original disc and a corrected disc. (there are two shots mistakenly swapped during the Part of Your World sequence on the original 2D disc).

3D BD disc: As far as the 3D goes, ymmv. It was not corrected.

As far as the releases, you got:

1: DVD disc and 2D BD disc (in both DVD and BD packaging)
2: DVD disc and 2D BD disc and digital copy
3: DVD disc and 2D BD disc and 3D BD disc and digital copy

Wait, there is a corrected disc? What was wrong with the original disc?

How do you know which one is original and which one is corrected disc?

There is a corrected disc: Yes.

What was wrong:
(you see Flounder sighing when you should see Ariel descending and singing "wish I... could be...", and then you see Ariel descending singing that line to the silence that should've accompanied Flounder sighing)
Side by Side:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXpk...youtu.be&t=179 (@2:59)

How do you know: To be honest I'm tired/drunk/lazy right now. I bought the disc at release and sent it to Disney through the mail for a corrected disc.

If I do not need the Digital copy, then I am left with these two

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Li...d-Blu-ray/760/
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-L...Blu-ray/70722/

I like having a slipcover, so that means I am left with the last one (DVD packaging)?
What does the actual plastic cover look like?

I never understood why there is a blu ray packaging and a DVD packaging. Both packages include a DVD + blu ray. So isnt it technically the same thing?

If I recall correctly, if your Blu-ray is darker blue then you should have a corrected disc, the lighter blue disc has the error. I remember this was my 1st time doing a replacement. Did this and Pinocchio together.

This one did come with a slipcover, but its been out for awhile so the chances are smaller that it'll come with one. Best bet is to get one in a store (best buy, target, ect) to see if it has the slip still.

Not all Disney titles come with slipcovers tho most do.

Do you know why the blue one without the digital copy costs more than the gold one with the digital copy?

No I didn't. Having an extra digital copy costs less? Did they just make less of the blue slipcover editions?

The first time we're introduced to Scuttle, there is a jump cut from the previous scene as opposed to the crossfade transition seen in theaters. This is also corrected.

I'd personally get the 3D release if you have the capability.

Also, can a mod please merge. We have a Little Mermaid thread.

I ordered from Target.com
They aren't sure if it comes with a slipcover or not. I can't even find stores that carry it around here and the ones that do, do not have the slipcover. That seems like the trend with newer blu rays now.

It is not common for older blurays to have slipcovers. Since TLM was released a while ago don't expect a slipcover.

I was surprised by how good the 3D conversion was for this title. The movie now looks like it was shot in the glory days of multiplane photography, and if the film had been released in 1989 looking like it does now in 3D, animation fans the world over would have been blown away.

So yeah, it's pretty good.
