Default New 100 x 100 avatar is AWFUL!

I've had my avatar since day 1 on this site. Now on my profile page it is all squished. I discovered the reason when I asked a question, mistakenly, in the Newbie subforum.

This is a terrible decision and I hope the developers will reconsider. Every time I see the squished image it just annoys me to no end.

Please reconsider.

It's so they look 'uniform', which is why (right now) if you change your current avatar you'll only get a maximum of 100x100 for the next, because the staff want them to look equally sized; obviously with our old avatar uploads this has the undesired effect of 'squishing' them down to size on the community profiles. I absolutely get the 'square' look for consistency and uniformity, but as I wrote before, 100x100 is far too small nowadays on high resolution monitors with many using broadband. I do hope they reverse that decision and at least increase the size to 140x140, 150x150 or (my choice) 160x160.

Then again, I thought the present system worked fine, but I've no idea how much they want to push the community profiles et al.

Things are getting tweaked and upgraded all the time. I am sure the developers will address this .

I wasn't here when the avatars were bigger, but it does suck that mine has to be so small you can barely see what it is while others on the forum have HUGE avas that don't lose any detail at all. Why can't I have one of them?

Many of us have already expressed our opinions on this issue in the feeback thread but doesn't look like they're budging

I haven't seen anyone with a huge avatar. Can you link to an example?

Look a few post up...Blu Titan. That's about as large as it was.

Didn't you already answer your question in your post? 100x100 in the default now.

There are a lot of changes coming shortly. I would think that an avatar size change is not the priority at the moment, but that doesn't mean it won't be included. Let's wait and see.

Is that all? I don't consider that "huge".

Paint...Resize/Crop...Problem solved.

PS: I was annoyed at first, but is this really that big of a deal to complain so much about?

EDIT: I know exactly where your avatar is from, LOL!

Yes it is. While I agree that it's a simple enough process to get the image down to the required size the problem lies in that fact that it's not a forum wide change. There are still users that have their previous avatars in the larger size since they didn't change it and if uniformity I is what the sites going for it looks like crap. It's only fair to bump the size back up as some users will never change their avatars and have the old size still there. Just to name a few of the higher ups that still have the larger avatars we have Blu Titan and iceman himself.

Definitely would rather 150 x 150. Just makes things on the forum more clean IMO. Reducing sigs is the best way to go about this.

Took the opportunity to change mine, according to what I'm playing at the moment.

Thanks for the upsize in avatars iceman. I agree with everyone else though that the info field below the avatar needs to stay. Its nice to conveniently check another users collection or for even a quick link to my own collection instead of having to click out of the forums.
