Default Do you love the RAMBO movies?

If so, you should join my forum, online since 2008:

By the way, my Rambo rank list:

Rambo III
Rambo
Rambo: First Blood Part II
First Blood

They are all excellent.

I do love them, but you've got them in reverse order. Unless you were ranking from worst to first.

I just think Rambo III is the greatest action movie of the eighties.

In truth, I cannot rank them. They are all different from each other and all excellent in their own right.

Oh yeah!!!! The Rambo films rock! Pure action and fun! I don't know how anyone could say they don't like at least one of them. I enjoy then all though, even the last one.

John Rambo is a bad ass. He's one of the meanest, toughest dudes in the history of film. That's why I love him.

I like First Blood. That's a genuinely good film that also makes a strong social statement. Seems like Sly really wanted to address how poorly Vietnam vets were being treated.

The others turned him into a cartoon character but they're fun too.

First one only. The rest dont even exist as far as Im concerned. Thats typical with great action/drama films though. The first one "nails" it and then the "cash in / milking" begins. Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, etc. etc all fall into the same category, IMO.

And your opinion is certainly valid, but come on, those franchises had some great sequels. For example, Lethal Weapon 2 is the best in the series. Hell, Rambo II is the best in its series.

First Blood and Rambo (2008) are the best ones.

First Blood II and Rambo III are stupid but fun in their own right..

I think the first one is amazing. I did infact thrash them, I loved the pyrotechnics. Rambo's explosive bow and arrow made a distinct whiplash sound which was almost as iconic as the man.

I've only seen the first and last, but they're both good for completely different reasons. First Blood is a damn fine character study from a time when Stallone was as close to an artist as he ever got, and Rambo is an exercise in visceral carnage, from a time when Stallone was fighting to stay relevant in the wake of an era with no iconic action stars (aka now).

The first three are pretty classic for the action genre.

The last one is freaking terrible.

I don't really understand the people who like the last one.

It's an abomination in every way possible.

Terrible writing, terrible acting, terrible production values.

...I just don't get it.

It's a cheesy, gory, over-the-top action flick. There isn't much to get, and that's the point. It's just visceral fun watching Stallone do Stallone. That was at a time when he wasn't putting out films like The Expendables and Escape Plan, so his exposure was much lower.
