![]() What do you guys think, interesting experiment? Improving on the original? Destroying a modern classic? Who really cares? |

Being that the director has been involved, approved, and even arranging it, I cant say I disapprove. I may not like it what it becomes but its also not like it is the definitive version.
Unless Refn somehow gets full rights to Drive and is allowed to George Lucas the original films (ie Star Wars Original Trilogy), Im unconcerned. |

If it turns out good or bad I think this is a brilliant idea. Really creative. I think there's a lot of films that could be made BETTER with a new score so it's kind of bizarre they chose a movie with such an excellent score. I've only seen Drive once and loved it and own the soundtrack. Been meaning to re-watch this movie for a while and now I have an excellent excuse. Good job BBC!

Classic silent films almost always are re-scored (the notorious Giorgio Moroder score for Metropolis). Phillip Glass re-scored the classic films Dracula (1931) and Cocteau's Beauty and the Beast.
Therefore, it is an experiment that has been tried and tested multiple times before. It would be interesting if they replace Kavinsky's Nightcall from the intro with whole different song more than changing Cliff Martinez's score. I wonder how that would hold up. How about switching it with this remix Last edited by Fellini912; 10-29-2014 at 02:07 AM. |

I like the Cliff Martinez score, but all the most iconic tracks from Drive were by bands, like the one by Chromatics used in the opening sequence. Thanks for the heads up though, I will record this. I really don't have a problem with re-scoring this or any film as long as the original is easily available. Last edited by Todd Tomorrow; 10-29-2014 at 09:02 AM. |

I honestly ended up nodding off during this. I'll have to finish it on iplayer later.
Some of the music I did hear though was pretty poor. Except for the first or second song. BTW for international folk it's on BBC iplayer. If you use a proxy with the location set to the UK you should be able to watch it. Drive Radio 1 rescores |

fun idea, nice concept but poorly executed.
Most tracks were just lamer versions of the original score. I would have appreciated a bolder exercise more, completely changing the movie by using a different musical style or something like that. Now it was just the exact same vibe and feel only with poorer quality songs. |
