The real title is ''Comme un chef'' and it's an amazing force. Gosh, awful US title for an amazing film !! Very good performance by Jean Reno... and Michael Youn, not an actor/humorist i like normally is great in this.

What would you propose they name it here?

Since they're going with a French title anyway, I'd have stuck with an original. This just makes it sound like one of those cheap budget labels that retitles an old movie to make it sound like a hit in the hope that people will buy it by mistake.

The movie is already pretty niche, but having the original French title would make it even more so. Le Chef is easily recognizable to a US moviegoer. They know it's about cooking and the Le implies it's french (or at the very least Foreign based if they can't place the country). They can recognize Le for what it is, they won't recognize "Comme Un". We recently had the film" "Chef" so I don't feel like Le Chef was really that much of a stretch, or any more generic

That's the point - it sounds like Cohen is hoping people buy it by mistake thinking it's the Jon Favreau film, especially if ordered online. It's the kind of thing you expect from companies like Asylum and their ilk, not Cohen.
