Default HDMI Upgrade???

Is it possible to upgrde HDMI 1.2 or first generation HDMI interface to the latest HDMI 1.3 interface? Are these HDMI interfaces are softwrae/firmware driven or actuall hardware driven? My Toshiba 62MX195 HDMI doesn't accept true 1080p signals...so only option I have is...I guess...is to upgrade to the latest HDMI 1.3 interface...any advice?

HDMI 1.2 and up require different hardware. Sorry.

not accepting 1080p isn't a consequence of the older hdmi implementation though, i don't think
just set your player to 1080i, hopefully the tv of yours will manage to restore the original signal just fine.

yeah early hdmi supports 1080p so that shouldn't be a problem the only thing you would be lacking would be some audio transmitting properties and higher color bit rates in 1.3

While early HDMI specifications allow for the support of 1080p, it is not a requirement of the manufacturer to release the displays with 1080p support native. Therefore, despite HDMI 1.1, 1.2, and 1.2a all supporting 1080p delivery, it is a very few displays (until recently) that have actually supported 1080p input across them.

CEDIA is showing that almost every single new 1080p display coming to market will fully support 1080/60p. There are even a few that, when asked, claim for 1080/24p support. This (notably) includes the Optoma HD81 which I saw on a 13 foot wide screen... 7 grand... I'm thinkin' it may be time to get serious about getting a new projector!
