Universal Bringing In Bruges, Assault on Precinct 13 and Alpha Dog to Blu-ray
April 09, 2010

Share Universal Studios Home Entertainment is planning to bring a trio of action catalog films to Blu-ray Disc on July 13.
The first, In Bruges (2008) starring Colin Farrell, will be making its first North American home video appearance in high definition. Assault on Precinct 13 (2005) with Ethan Hawke and Laurence Fishburne, and Alpha Dog (2006) with Justin Timberlake were previously available on HD DVD but will be making their Blu-ray debuts.

All three films will be presented in 1080p video and 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. In Bruges and Assault on Precinct 13 will benefit from the inclusion of D-BOX Motion Code.

Love In Bruges, but D-Box motion code???? I mean, I don't know of a single person who has it anyway, but even if they did, is In Bruges the kind of film that can benefit ONE tiny bit from that?

I have no interest in these, but it's good to see Universal is releasing some more previous HD-DVD titles.

In Bruges was fantastic. So glad they decided to release it on Hi-Def. First day purchase. Everyone should look into it. This is also the movie where Collin Farrell won a Golden Globe to.

Give me Alpha Dog i loved that movie. Hell give me In Bruges also but i have no interest in the crappy Assault on Precinct 13.

In Bruges is easily a good choice for a blind buy. Great flick.
Be warned, however, it is not for the easily offended. That flick is pretty much constant swearing from beginning to end.

Dang, I just bought In Bruges on DVD after waiting for what seemed like forever for the blu-ray release!

Oh well, it's one one of my favorite movies, so I'll be happy to upgrade.

It will be interesting to see how In Bruges compares to the Australian, French, Nordic and German releases that all beat it to the punch. This film is a fantastic potential friendship/relationship barometer btw.
