I might bite. I was actually looking for it on netflix but, alas it wasn't available.

I'd be interested to know if anybody has any experience from this store and also the a/v quality of this blu-ray.

I hated this film. But of course you have no way of telling whether I'm an idiot or not, so like all reviews from people you don't know, that doesn't mean much.

It's one of the few films I've ever walked out on.

But seeing as wearing meat is popular these days, maybe the film would work better now. Maybe they should re-make it with Lady Gaga.

I saw this film a short while back and fell in love with it. Me picking this up is a no brainer. When and IF it arrives I'll upload screenshots so you guys can see if it's worth getting, maybe even forward it to Gary Tooze over at DVDBeaver so he can do a review of it.

It's a pretty nice-looking disc overall, but there's quite a bit of damage and debris in the first reel. Definitely more detail than the SD version; the 2.0 stereo sounds about the same though. It'll do till Criterion gets around to finding good elements for it.

Who says Criterion even has the rights to do this film? Even if they do, who says they are planning on doing it? Is this speculation just because it's the type of film Criterion would gravitate towards or is there actual proof????

I think it's just speculation. For some reason I feel like this is more likely to be released by MoC or BFI in the UK than by Criterion in the US.

I agree, this film screams for a Criterion release. Maybe someone can start a petition....

Looks like a decent upgrade from DVD, but the picture is quite soft (probably by design), but there's noticeable print damage at times throughout the movie.

now WHEN will Prospero's Books - the one Greenaway film I desperately want to own/resee in hidef.

tried watching the second Tulse Luper film on DVD, but aaagh, it's sooooo pretentious - I literally had to stop watching. (which is hard to admit since I'm a Greenaway fan).

So I see that Drowning By Numbers is coming out on Blu, but sadly it's only Region 2.

So it looks like I'm going to be adding the Japanese laserdisc release to my Prospero's Books, Baby of Macon, and Cook, Thief, Wife and His Lover laserdiscs as well.
