Default Would this set-up improve audio performance?

Please excuse my ignorance on this matter but would the following work. Bearing in mind my Samsung TV doesn't have a coaxial out. My soundbar has both an optical and coaxial output.

TV optical out>Sound bar optical out
Blu-ray player coaxial>Sound bar coaxial

This is what I'm thinking of trying, my current set-up is

TV optical out>Sound bar optical out
Blu-ray player HDMI>TV HDMI

I'm thinking this direct connection from my BR player to the soundbar will elicit a better sound although to be honest, I'm not tech savvy and have little to know idea what can help get the best out of my set-up.

Do you think the new method will improve sound quality?

Thanks
