Worst Hollywood Remakes

So I read Ridley Scott wants to remake Blade Runner and I wonder, what are the worst Hollywood remakes ever? There are a lot, so I tried to keep it to the last 10 years or so....

I picked Godzilla because I was bored out of my mind when I saw it at the movies.

I voted for The Day the Earth Stood Still because I don't like movies with an in-your-face political message behind them.

Some of these aren't too bad. I love all of the movies based on Invasion of the Body Snatchers, so I wouldn't have included The Invasion on the list. I thought the scenes with Anne Heche in Psycho '98 were pretty good. The rest of the movie pales in comparison to the original (especially Vince Vaughn).

Of the movies on the list I chose The Karate Kid (2010). The original is somewhat of a classic. The remake failed to capture any of the original's charm.

I think the all-time worst remake is Rob Zombie's Halloween. The original is one of the greatest horror films ever. RZ shouldn't be allowed to make films after what he did to the franchise. He made Resurrection look good.

Runner-up would have to be The Jackal (1997) with Bruce Willis. It's embarrassingly bad in comparison to the original.

Would have to be Psycho in my opinion. I just never understood why they chose to do it. It's more or less shot-for-shot, and therefore pointless.

Also, the casting of Vince Vaughn... Really?

Just, no... Utter sacrilege.

Went with Psycho and and Planet of the Apes. Both originals were classics and the remakes were terrible. (Tim Burton Apes that is)

Karate Kid was a classic, but the new one certainly wasnt terrible. Other than that, most of the originals on this list I didn't care for to begin with.

consider Zombies remake of Halloween a "re-imaging". I know everyone hates in, but i actually like it a lot... the original is a little boring for my tastes yea i know. im in the VERY small minority there but whatever...

Id say the worst remake as to be The Wicker Man though... i voted for Karate Kid and The Day the Earth Stood Still for this poll though

The '02 Time Machine remake isn't on the list?
The remake directed by HG Wells' OWN GREAT-GRANDSON, who possessed not one single thematic clue of what the original book was about, and Rollerball and Clash were somehow "worse"?

Welllll...okay, we'll give you Clash.
But only because it was as utterly jawdrop at-sea clueless about its original as the Time Machine remake. At least John McTiernan had seen the original Rollerball.

(Gotta admit, though, "The Invasion" deserves something for shutting down the whole A-list-actress "Mommy-horror" genre-factory singlehandedly....From Warner's reaction to that one, they ain't tryin' that again any time soon. )

Rollerball is the poster child for a terrible remake-- it took everything interesting and cool from the original and destroyed it--

I liked Poseidon, Karate Kid, and House Of Wax (even though it's nothing like the original-- it reminded me more of Tourist Trap)
