Awful. Avoid this.

As long as this documentary is mostly about the production and not the fans, I'm very interested.

I wish I could've seen some reviews or anything before ordering, but those slips went quick. By the time I heard about them a couple hours after listing went up, they were half gone. They sold out right around 24 hours from going up. At least if the doc is lame fan stuff, I'll get my money back for having the slip.

Only 100 of the Standard edition left in stock, don't expect this to remain in stock until the 4th of July sale.

I have to think they will make more and that is just what is left for now.
But, it is now saying "currently unavailable" from Amazon too. No way is the movie itself going to be limited, is it?
You can still order from VS or I saw it offered at Grindhouse. Those look to be the only 2 places ATM.

I'm so happy to see how quickly this sold as hopefully that means we get a 4K upgrade of the film (with some actual extras for once)

Got a shipping email for the slip version from VS. Sadly it just says "label created" under tracking, but it has to start somewhere.

Tracking says it's in town and will be at house tomorrow. Should get a chance to check it out too, wife is a huge fan of the movie but I haven't told her about this doc, it will be a post-Valentine's surprise.

I think I'll just wait and see if this turns up on Prime Video. I'm not going to pay X amount of dollars to hear fans of the movie talk about how much they love it.

Too late!

This really was kind of a missed opportunity. They could have got Tim Curry, Christopher Lloyd and Martin Mull. The amateur nature of this doc unfortunately contrasts the film's high production values. Also they should have kept the fan stuff to a minimum.

I'm sure they got all of the actors they could have. I can't imagine the people behind it didn't try as hard as they could to get everyone. Maybe the cost was too much? Maybe they didn't want to be interviewed (see Annette OToole who wanted nothing to do with the Pennywise/IT doc)

I don't get ragging on a company for putting out a doc when no one else will ever do it...

Met him a few years back at a convention. It was partially being held inside of a cold hockey arena. Felt so bad for him because they just left him in his wheelchair for pictures as everyone cycled through. I'm sure he made bank that day, but it just seemed like a sad situation...

This is an unflinchingly bad release.

I've never bought anything Vinegar Syndrome before, but I jumped through the hoops for this. I know they are highly regarded, so I just assumed the release itself would be decent (even if I was blind buying the doc itself).

The PQ is excruciatingly terrible. I have never seen a Blu like this. Yes, it's a "talking heads" doc, but there is no excuse for the constant banding and artifacts - much of it looks like it was up-rezz'd from VHS. The review on this site was generous to give it a 2.0. (Note, I am the opposite of a pixel watcher - but man, the mouth and eyes in most interviews look like they are wearing shades and grilles, it's just so distracting.)

As to the doc itself...I haven't finished, I'm slogging through - but this is a YouTube/podcast type video. I mean, even "driving in the car selfie style" narration segments. We will see how it goes - but just wanted to warn folks - wait for streaming. I'm sure this will end up somewhere by the end of the year. If I had bought from Amazon, and not Vinegar Syndrome, I would have already printed the return label. This is just not a project of high enough quality to warrant a Blu-ray release.

Did you miss the part where he says he had an interview set up with Tim Curry, but then got covid and couldn't do it?

Curry was interviewed for the recent documentary about It (the television series version). You can see and hear the effects of the stroke, but he's lucid and understandable in discussing his work on the series. The Curry charm is still there, as well, though understandably more subdued.

I made it about an hour in last night, but shut it off when he got to talking about the matte painting artists and making a joke about them not remembering anything about Clue and then...proceeds to show us said interview where they really say nothing about Clue.

It seems like they used slightly better cameras for the "major" interviews, but as nice as it is to see those subjects, they basically just say how much they liked the other actors work. (FYI, some recent footage of Curry is in there - they pull from YouTube convention videos).

I don't want to rag on the director, it's clear he has a personal passion for the film, and this is good work for a non-professional - if this was a YouTube video I had come across I would have been "oh that was neat", but this just isn't something that needed a Blu-ray release, much less a boutique one priced like this. Vinegar Syndrome is the only one to roll eyes at, thinking that this was appropriate for physical release.

It's worth watching, just not something I think most folks are going to need to own. Definitely wait for streaming.

I think we can also roll our eyes at you, for the second comment, after you've already been told that this is a partner label release (ETR Media, to be specific) and not a Vinegar Syndrome release.

If you're gonna get all sanctimonious, at least get your facts straight.
