Spike Lee's latest movie "Da Sweet Blood of Jesus", which was partially funded by a Kickstarter campaign, will be released on Blu-ray on May 26th

When Dr. Hess Green (Stephen Tyrone Williams) is introduced to a mysteriously cursed artifact by an art curator, Lafayette Hightower (Elvis Nolasco), he is uncontrollably drawn into a newfound thirst for blood that overwhelms his soul. He however is not a vampire. Lafayette quickly succumbs to the ravenous nature of the infliction but leaves Hess a transformed man. Soon Lafayette's wife, Ganja Hightower (Zaraah Abrahams), comes looking for her husband and becomes involved in a dangerous romance with Hess that questions the very nature of love, addiction, sex, and status in our seemingly sophisticated society. A reinterpretation of Bill Gunn's horror cult film "Ganja & Hess", which played as a Critics' Choice at the 1973 Cannes Film Festival, Spike Lee's stylized thriller features an Original Score by Bruce Hornsby.

This almost seems like Spike Lee's version of Thirst or The Addiction. I'm definitely interested.

Um, it says it is a re-make of Ganja and Hess.

Ganja and Hess left me bored, but it was nice seeing Duane Jones in something else. Maybe Spike Lee will add some vigor to the story.

Spike Lee (whom I believe to be in the same directorial class as Martin Scorsese and Woody Allen) has made some very uncharacteristic story choices in recent years, some great and some not-so-good. This one looks quite compelling. First-day purchase.

How can it be "a new kind of love story" and a remake of a 40 year-old movie at the same time?
Still, I'll watch it. G&H is pretty great and it's a good trailer.

Clocker is probably my favorite Spike Lee picture. This looks mildly interesting, but I wouldn't think I'd ever own it.
