Default By purchasing this blu ray disc, you are supporting what?

Anyone else feel it's kind of bullshit when they say at the beginning "By purchasing this blu ray disc, you are supporting your local film and television industry"?

I mean come on. When I watch a WB home video release of an American movie, Im hardly supporting my local film industry.

Maybe what they should say is "You are supporting the production of high quality film releases", since the more blu ray's sell the more they're going to release.

Local industry...

It's still better then "You wouldn't steal a car" ad that treated every buyer doing the right thing as a crim

By purchasing this disc.... you are supporting Roadshows ongoing campaign against 'piracy' !! woooowww.... scary...... fear (that's the LNP party !!)

But of course Village Roadshow are just another lobby group, and a company that knows how to get away without paying it's fair share of tax. Yes... that's what you are basically supporting.

Of course we aren't supporting the long dead local film industry - it's a con.

Thankfully those adverts are skippable !!

Yeah exactly. It is nice to be greeted by a skippable friendly "thanks for buying this" rather that screaming nonskippable "YOU ARE A THIEF"

I feel like I'd enjoy it more if it was Brian Blessed saying it.

Yeah but the voice's tone already sounds like he's trying to do a Brian Blessed thing, but can't at all.

Remember the Happy Feet one? I once saw a film in Malaysia which was identical except it was in a malay accent and had a different film poster. Apparently the promo wasn't even locally made.

I think this stuff is a joke, I bought the bastard disc, so why give me five minutes of unskippable guff at the start? There is no local industry to support, I don't want a bastard snickers and if I was a pirate I wouldn't have bought this damn disc. Let me go straight to the menu THANKS.
