In order to give us the lowest prices.
It's not an altruistic endeavor, as it ensures customer loyalty, but that's why I like Amazon and give them so much business - unlike a lot of companies, they realize that you can have your cake and feed it to your customers, as well. Generally, what's good for Amazon is good for buyers, past the annoyance of a title temporarily not being available for preorder. I know lots of folks don't care for Amazon for whatever reason, but I am an unabashed supporter of them - partially because of things like this, but mostly because generally what they do IS in my best interest. I almost always get the lowest retail price, and when you add in the fact I don't have to drive anywhere, you knock a few bucks more off the true cost of obtaining a disc, and I still get it on release day. I'm sure there will be pages of pages of folks crying over this, but while no corporation is your "friend" - I can tell you, if I had to pick between the studios and Amazon - I can tell you which one is better for my interests, hands down. They may be doing it "for themselves" but I am the recipient of the benefit, and Amazon clearly wants me to continue being a customer, and as a company shows me all the time how much that business relationship means - which is a true rarity today. |

I always find it amusing when people get mad that they can't get a mainstream new release through Amazon sometimes when you could just pick it up at a store in-person.
I usually reserve Amazon for when its something I just cannot obtain through normal means (or can get a boutique release for far less than what my local record shop is asking for). |

You are deluded. Amazon does not have the lowest prices. They just PM everyone else now.

If folks don't like them/use them, hey, everyone is free to buy from where they want. When I see how much effort folks expend running around online and at retail to chase after a $2 price difference here or there, when I'm going to most likely end up paying that same price on Amazon without any effort on my part, I can just say - Amazon works for me, and I'm glad that they continue to fight to be able to offer product at the lowest price. |

Hahahaha.
Oh... you were serious. Dafuq. Amazon does indeed have fine customer service, but I've barely bought blu-rays from them in the last several years regardless of that. Honestly, Amazon is nothing but a middle man, and they are not "fighting for me" when I consistently get better prices elsewhere. Amazon to me is almost nothing but for small purchases now (thanks to Prime free shipping, for as long as I remain a member) - and black Friday Week (which is a big reason for me still bothering with prime). That's honestly about it at this point. |

Here's another thing I don't understand here. If you don't bother "chasing better prices" - why are you so confident they offer you the best price and experience? I can tell you, I *DO* chase better prices - and that's probably why much of my online shopping has drifted away from Amazon. They all more or less deliver the same experience. For me the only advantage to shopping with Amazon is Amazon Prime. Yes, I'm a paid Amazon Prime member. Yet I still typically only end up using that on purchases <$25 or $35 that other retailers would charge me for shipping - it's still worth it for me for black friday deals week and for a few random purchases during the year... but just barely, |
