Default A Certain Magical Index/A Certain Scientific Railgun

I've recently gotten into watching these series, and checked the database to see that all of ACMI was released this past year, and Season 1 of ACSR will be released soon. My question is, for those who have the ACMI releases, do they include the bonus OVAs? If not, will the ACSR have them? Are they licensed at all in North America? I'm talking about the following:

A Certain Magical Index
-A Certain Magical Index-tan
-A Certain Magical Index-tan 2
-A Certain Magical Index-tan 3
-A Certain Magical Index-tan 4

A Certain Magical Index: The Miracle of Endymion
-A Certain Magical Index the Movie: The Miracle of Endymion...Happened or Maybe Not?

A Certain Scientific Railgun
-Being a Photo Shoot Model Under the Sun Isn't Easy, You Know
-Since Misaka-san Is the Center of Attention Right Now...
-MMR: Much More Railgun
-MMR II: Much More Railgun II
-MMR III: Much More Railgun III
-MMR IV: Much More Railgun IV

I didn't see a thread on these shows, so any discussion on plot, video/audio quality of releases, etc. is appreciated. Would love to have them on blu, but I know that often those bonus/specials/OVAs aren't released domestically, which is a shame.

The Index-tan stuff is not included and it looks like the rest won't be either.

Well, boo. Thanks for the quick response. If there's one thing that frustrates me about anime/domestic releases of it, it's that 90% of the time, you're not getting all of it. A release of a series isn't complete if there are OVAs or specials out there that aren't a part of the set. Complete means 100%. Is it really that difficult to license all of the specially-produced episodes/shorts, or is it that North American companies don't think it's worth it because the fans won't care?

Are the two shows actually related to one another, or do they just have similar sounding titles?

They are related. They are set in the same city and the characters appear in each others shows. There is even a particular event which is covered from different perspectives in each show. Technically, Railgun is a spin-off from Index, as far as the original source material is concerned at least.

I enjoy these shows a lot. Railgun more so then Index but I like both.
I never did import them as they were too much but glad that they are getting a US release on blu ray finally.
I have all the Index on blu ray and the movie should be here later this month along with the first Season of Railgun. I'm hoping that the release Railgun S later on around Christmas or ever before. I know that Funi will gouge us though and release them a singles part I and part II instead of just Season 2.

And I watched Railgun first, having no idea what that there Index show was

But then Index showed up, and I knew it was more than just a random cameo.

I have Railgun/Index ordered on Amazon....looking forward to checking them out. The movie and Season 2 of Index (and I'll be waiting for a complete collection in 12 months) are contingent on me liking it....

Sorry Naiera, I probably would have but when they announced the blu rays (finally) I gave up on getting the other DVD's. I have Railgun Season 1 and the first part to Season 2. Didn't get Index because of the blu rays.

I think shipping from Denmark would have killed any possible deal anyway

haha this is probably true. Although shipping to the UK for me is about $15-$20 which isn't too bad. I know that the other way around though it can get pretty high.

Well the source material for Index is done if I remember correctly but it is still going for Railgun.

There is a manga A Certain Scientific Accelerator, but not sure if that will be made into an anime or not.

Hm, interesting! Railgun is the one that I'm personally more interested in.

The first Season of Railgun ends nicely and I didn't know at the time there was a Season 2. It has been a while since I watched S2 so I can't remember how that ended.

I enjoyed Index, the pacing is a bit slow but it picks up. I think I enjoy Railgun more because I started that first then got into Index. But they are both equally decent and have their pros.
