Opinions on what is the best blu-ray player under $100.00 and as to why you believe it is so.

LG BP340.

Lowest cost on Amazon that isn't a Samsung.

Oh yeah, "best" cause it is cheap enough, if it dies.

Buy another one.

tell us what features you need, will you be using wifi or discs only? will it be hooked to a sound system or will you use the tv speakers?
also do you prefer the player to be the same brand as your tv so you could possibly use only one remote?

For my son-in-law. Hooked to TV with no sound bar (yet). Brand does not matter. Wi-fi does not matter. Just a basic.

sony bdp-s1200 it plays everything you throw at it
does not have wifi
sony is a highly rated brand, very small and light weight
this costs a lot less than $100
prices vary but averages around $70
