![]() ![]() It has been announced that Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow are to be released on the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console in Europe on February 27th 2016. The release of these games includes special link cable capabilities of the games to allow for battle and trading. It's also confirmed that Japan will receive Pokémon Red, Green, Blue and Yellow and will also be released in a special bundle which comes with the download code and a map for 1,389Ą I guess that's something to celebrate the 20th anniversary. Although I kind have wanted maybe a brand new story set in the Kanto region since we already had Fire Red and Leaf Green. Or a more improved version of Yellow that follows the anime more closely would have been cool. |

Yeah it's pretty much a world wide release celebrating 20 years of pokemon.
I've got them all on the gameboy and a Japanese copy of red but I'm still picking all three of these up. There are limIted edition 2ds console too which look pretty sweet. Wish we were getting the physical release goodies that Japan are getting with the release, those replica gameboy carts look awesome. Last edited by Mavrick; 02-10-2016 at 05:24 PM. |

Can't afford a new 3DS this year, but I do love the new Pokemon stuff they are bringing out. Looking forward to the new game/games that will be out hopefully later this year, they just revealed a brand new Pokemon so it can't be long now until a brand new game comes out.
I'll be more than happy playing Blue and Yellow in a couple weeks time though. Haven't played them in a fair few years. |

If you played it on a gameboy colour then it would have pallet shades red would have a red tint for example. Same if you played it on the super gameboy or pokemon stadium. Yellow was the first game to add proper colour not just pallet shades. Since this is a gameboy VC title it's black and white as it originally was. Maybe they will have the pallet shades as an Easter egg. You could change the pallet shades by pressing different button combos back in the day. |

I bought yellow last night!
![]() I will be getting Red later today once I've played through Yellow a bit more. Some things to remember if you are going to be playing these games again. - Critical hit chance is based off your speed. Which is why Slash + Persian is a legit thing - Blizzard has 90% accuracy, and can be bought as much as you want, so just stick it on whoever. - Once Frozen, you will never defrost - If Hyper Beam kills an enemy or Substitute, it doesn't need to recharge - Waking up from sleep wastes a turn. - There are no notable STAB moves for Bug, Ghost or Dragon. - Because of the previous point, Psychic Pokemon basically have no weakness - Focus Energy does absolutely nothing - Never use Rage - Critical hits ignore the stat ups of your enemy (as they still do). But also ignore your stat ups. A crit after a few Swords Dances does less damage than not critting. It also ignores enemy Stat Downs, so if you lower their defense, crits do less damage. - Walking around the over world while Poisoned does damage and can kill your Pokemon - Wrap/Fire Spin trap enemies for several turns while doing damage. It's basically like Sleep, except it does damage. - Don't use Substitute if you're around 25% HP, because if you're at exactly 25%, using Sub will kill you - Even 100% accurate moves can miss And for old times sake, this is what the old pokemon master guide advised us to do as kids, use that Master Ball wisely! ![]() |

I'm really tempted to purchase a 3DS and pick up these games.
This was my life for a good portion of my childhood and teen years. If they were to ever re-release Gold and Silver or the original Ruby and Sapphire, you can bet that I'll be the happiest camper in the world. |

These are the first games I've bought on the VC, in Pokemon Red and Blue you can hold down R+L and press Y to change the screen from black and white to the classic gameboy green and black. Also if you hold down Start + Select when launching a VC game then you will get the gameboy boarder too. |

But I did have a N64, and couldn't wait to get Pokemon Stadium so that I could play a Pokemon game of my own (had previously only played pc roms). I chose Pokemon Yellow and loved how the two games interacted with each other. |
