Certainly needs a restoration. The existing Blu is pretty bad.

Ooh a new transfer?!
If it gets good reviews, I may pick it up. I believe the last transfer left a lot to be desired. The DVD that I currently have doesn't look too strong.
On the movie itself, I think it's pretty good until the last minute or so. Total last minute "we're doing this!" snap now, and way too mean spirited compared to the rest of the film. Complete cop out in my opinion. But then again, that's just my opinion. The rest of it isn't too bad!

Looks like I'm keeping my non-anamorphic Criterion DVD, the commentary track hasn't returned since the Anchor Bay release

Awesome! Big Terry Gilliam fan, here! Never bought the previous Blu Ray because of how bad the reviews were. I have to hand it to Arrow... they have their detractors, but they have really been pushing the boat out with their releases lately.

They said that that commentary is tangled in rights problems, and they tried to get it

Any word of this being released in the U.S., if not any confirmation that this is Region B only or perhaps region free?

Not any time soon, I really doubt it... the one already available is a 1080i substandard transfer.

Like most Arrow releases, this will be region locked.

I was just checking this against my DVD to see if I can get rid of it, but I'll be keeping it for the commentary

In an unexpected turn of events, DVDTalk had a copy of this in the screener pool (we don't usually get non-US discs). I will have it by Friday, I believe, and I will post some caps.
