I know there are a couple of editions of this out there, for e.g the Austrailian and the German edition, but which one is the best. I can never come to any final conclusion to which one has the better PQ & better aspect ratio etc
Can anyone help. ![]() |

Here is a comparison of all four releases:
http://www.hd-compare.com/2009/05/american-psycho.html It seems that the Australian and Spanish releases are the best. The German release has the wrong aspect ratio and is cut. The US release has inferior PQ. |

I picked up the Canadian release (which is identical to the US release except for minor packaging changes) for 12 bucks at best buy about a month ago
Copincidentally I watched it yesterday and while the opening scenes have terrible grain and the rest of the movie never reaches reference quality, I wouldn't say the PQ is terrible and from what i remember its a marked improvment over the DVD. The sound didn't blow me away either, but dialogue is always clear and the surrounds are used well for music and the low end is fairly strong (the cop car explosion at the end sounded very loud and deep). Extras are nice too, with a commentary, some deleted scenes and a short doc on the 80's (I can't remember if anything was left off from the special edition DVD) Overall i'd say i am happy with my upgrade purchase, although i do love the film and would like to see a better edition someday but I would break down my opinion of the American Release from Lionsgate as PQ - 7/10 AQ - 8/10 Extras - 7/10 |

I understand the Aussie version is the "One to have" I only have the U.S. version, and while it's a good upgrade to the DVD, I will double-dip because I do enjoy the film..... I just plan on waiting, as I suspect another U.S. version will come out eventually, and like Sussudio..... I don't enjoy the film enough to import it at a higher cost

Australian version is without a doubt the best release. I own both that and the US release. There is no comparison.
WTF!? You need to get on that shit! lol |

Thanks guys. It's the Aussie version for me. A bit more expensive, but I think it's worth it.

Does the Australian version have more or less picture with regards to aspect ratio?

I think that I would prefur more picture, even if the director didn't intend for it to be that way... it's alot better then having less picture anyway. |
