Thats actually not that much. i expected alot more.

I do. It makes developers work harder. Just imagine if we all took what was given to us without saying anything. Damn, we would have had a banana shaped PS3 control.

SingStar for PS3 only costs £17, they could have packed it with more than double the number of music videos (lots of which you wouldn't like) and made it a full-price game or they could do what they're doing now and make it cheaper with the ability to download the music YOU WANT from the SingStore.

I knew that could download additional tracks, I was just curious as to what your expectations were since you found 30 tracks to be lacking. You honestly expected 50 tracks? Seems a little lofty to me, and that would no doubt send the price of the game skyrocketing. I'm all in favor of 30 tracks and the option of picking and choosing from a list of additional songs.

That way it's up to me how much more expensive I want to make the game, instead of not having that option.

That would require ridiculously sophisticated software that could detect a vocal track inside of a mixed audio stream (read: such an application is science fiction and doesn't exist).

Not to mention they wouldn't make any money that way.

That said, does anyone know if SingStar will offer online multiplayer? I don't see it available in the menus, but I think singing a duet with your friends across the world would be really cool.

It's pretty important to me, since if this feature isn't offered, I may have to drop my SingStar preorder and switch it to Rock Band instead.

Our kids might enjoy these "games"..they aren't my cup of tea..but I find the whole Rock Band thing a bit bizarre myself..are people really going to set and pull out drum kits in their living room every time they want to play this game? Combining guitars and singing I can see but drums? Are they required?

Just seems crazy..or something that will happen for a few weeks and then they will be collecting dust in the basement. Just curious if anyone else feels that way .. or are they willing to plop down the money for this.

None of the instruments in Rock Band are "required". You can use any or all of them and the game will "fill in" the pieces that aren't being actively played.

Thanks. That makes sense..so the game would come with one instrument and then you buy additional instruments or they have special bundles I guess.

I think Rock Band is shipping with either the game only (buy the instruments separately on your own) or as a bundle with all the instruments for (don't die of a coronary)... $199.

The US songlist will certainly be different because a few of those bands are more well known in the UK.
