Australia Star Trek: Enterprise (Seasons 1-4 out now)

Paramount Home Entertainment Australia has set Season One of Star Trek: Enterprise for Blu-ray release March 27, 2013.

EDIT: Season One's date has changed to May 1, 2013.
EDIT: Season Two set for August 21, 2013
EDIT: Season Two and onwards will be exclusive to JB Hi-Fi.
EDIT: Season Three set for March 5, 2014
EDIT: Season Four set for April 30, 2014

Good to see we're getting another Trek series bowing on Blu-ray before TNG has finished. It'll be interesting to see what the approach is to the release of the show seeing that the CG shots were rendered (IIRC) in 480 and 720p. Most likely an upscale - BSG's effects were 720p so that might not be a huge issue. Unless of course Eden FX still has the files to re-render at 1080p...

All the same, super keen for some more Trek on Blu-ray. I'd guessed it would be coming to either line up with the theatrical or home video release of Star Trek into Darkness. Good to hear it's coming sooner rather than later.

Seasons:

Exclusives:

JB Hi-Fi: Seasons One, Two, Three and Four each come with three art cards and a code towards a redeemable plaque

Never caught this one on television, and know very very little about it. Might check it out, although the price wouldn't be too good for a blind buy..

Like most Treks it took until Season 3 to really settle in. Unfortunately franchise fatigue and a floundering network resulted in low ratings so even though seasons 3 and 4 are excellent (and quite frankly I enjoy a LOT of seasons 1 & 2 as well) it got cancelled. It's a shame as there were quite a few story threads the new showrunners had that they didn't get the opportunity to explore. It did however get concluded for the most part though even if a large part of the final episode it not particularly welcomed by much of Trek fandom, myself included.

I highly recommend checking out a few episodes to see what you think. I could recommend a few that are non-spoilerific in terms of the series continuity and wouldn't ruin other parts of the series on a first viewing.

I concur that the series took until its third season to really find its stride. I also agree that there is plenty to like in the first two seasons as well. I think it could have really turned into a great show if it would've had the opportunity to run a seven season arc like most of the other treks, other than TOS, had.

Hopefully, a stateside release won't be too far behind.

Question

I will get the full 4 series if this !!

I liked it after about 3 episodes ,as I watched all Quantum leap with Scot Bakula , so it was allways gonna be a test to see him as an Enterprise Captain

and as it wasnt the usual feel of past Star Treks , I couldnt turn it off

Certainly will be / Hope a good transfer as it is a 16:9 Native allready , so just upscaled & they work the magic

hope its not too pricey ?? prob a $89 or $99 a season ??

You'd think it would be the same price range as TNG, so that's like 40-50AU.

Paramount have now changed the date to May 1, 2013 for season one. Seems they're pushing everything back to May for the release of Star Trek Into Darkness.

Cover art has been released:

Due to the placement of the Season One text it looks like it's back to printed on ratings logos for Enterprise.

could never understand why they opted to leave Malcolm Reed out of the picture. I now the current cover was a response to fan feedback during voting, but it seems odd even if it was simply for compositional reasons!.

Well that image was an original season one promo image, not something created for the Blu-ray release.

Still think the cover art completely sucks in comparison to the original suggested ones we were asked to vote on. Not only did they fit nicely with the TNG sets but they had some visual dynamics and options for future seasons. I can't really see how they'll make this look continue on for three more seasons without getting very old very fast.

Slipcover

Nothing on JB yet but EzyDVD have it for $48.97 which is pretty low for them: http://www.ezydvd.com.au/blu-ray/sta...n-1/dp/6140200

Star Trek: Enterprise - Season One seems to be sitting on 77.86 usd to get it from Amazon to wait for the AU release or not is the question.

G'day guys, I've never really watched much Star Trek, other than a couple of the Picard era movies which I really enjoyed, would this series be a good place to start? I have enjoyed what I've seen of TNG but have found the original stuff to be a bit campy...

Purists think Enterprise is "crap", but they are hung up on many things like authenticity of "cannon" , this could well be to your liking. first season has good intent but is not the best. I enjoy season 2 more but seasons 3 and 4 are absolute stand outs. It follows a similar pattern for the Next Generation which found its feet in the third season, so it will take patience to see the true depth this has to offer...ultimately this is a star trek "Origin" story setting up 100 years before Kirk's crew (old timeline) so yep, while not important, potentially very good place to start.

Deep Space Nine and Voyager are in the same timeline as Picard's crew.

wow i'm totally off my soap box right now

Totally agree with this. I drifted away part-way through the first season, and missed all of the good stuff. Never caught up properly, so excited for the BDs.

JB now listing it at $54.98. Interestingly, they are claiming it as exclusive, even though EzyDVD are already listing it.
Enterprise S1 at JB

They also have the Original Series S3 at the far-more-reasonable $39.98. No sign of S1 and 2 being discounted to match. That would sensible, so I imagine it's not likely to happen.

Review of Ent season 1 is out, I have to say its relatively mediocre picture quality as me considering giving this a miss. What I love about the 2 previous Star Treks is the amazing restoration work. I think I'll just focus on Nxt Gen and TOS for the time being, which doesn't bother me.

If the JB exclusive promotion is anything to go by, we should have all 4 seasons of ENT on BD by this time next year. If you buy all 4 seasons and register your code with the special website, they'll send you an Enterprise commissioning plaque with your name on. Says the offer expires 1 May 2014, so maybe 2 more seasons this year?

Enterprise promotion
