Nooooooooo!
I hated this movie, thought it was extremely boring and really oddly edited for a documentary. Seemed so disjoint and random. Starts following that one fat dude with long hair for a long time and doesn't really do anything with it. Sigh. I hope, since this says it's release #17, that it will be a while until it comes out. Artwork is cool though. |

Completely disagree with some opinions shared here, it's an extraordinary documentary about a genocide hidden in plain view. A tribute to the power of cinema. It's a must buy for me.

The subject matter was very interesting, but the actual execution of a documentary film was very sub par. It seemed like they didn't actually know how to make a documentary. They just thought if they pointed a camera at a subject, they didn't have to worry about continuity, editing, flow, pace, etc.

Dayum, that artwork is crazy beautiful, but I dunno about the film. I remember seeing the trailer and being really disturbed by the subject matter and the blasé attitude the men in question have is super unsettling. But time will tell as it seems to be a ways away.

I just noticed this and was about to message BHolst or redphoenix to start a topic, but it looks like I'm hours behind.
As someone else already said, that makes zero sense. Lots of films have strong disturbing violence, but this is about something horrific that actually happened. A much better double feature, if you could stomach it back to back, would be its companion film/sequel which a quick Google search reminds me is The Look of Silence also by Joshua Oppenheimer, which I haven't seen yet. Apparently, jacobsever already asked them about it and they said they'd do their best to release that film as well, but are currently unsure if that will happen. Quote:
I like the artwork a lot and how it fits with the film, so I'll want to buy this, though it may be a long time til I feel like sitting through it again. Since it is PA #017 it will probably be a while before this is released. For this and Searching For Sugar Man I really hope they only do one version and make things easier on our wallets. |

Drafthouse Films (who owns the rights to this film in the US, and released it under their own collection) retweeted this. Clearly they support the release, which is a good sign because they also own the rights to the follow up film, Look of Silence.
