United Kingdom Class Of 1984 (101 Films) Black Label 007

FEBRUARY NEW RELEASE

CLASS OF 1984

Title 007 in our Black Label series will be Mark L. Lester's Class of 1984, released on Blu-ray for the first time in the UK.

Visceral and uncompromising, Mark L. Lester’s high school thriller is one of the seminal cult movies of the 1980s. The release includes a brand new, career-retrospective interview with writer Tom Holland, director's commentary and interviews with cast and crew. The Limited Edition booklet includes a new interview with director Mark L. Lester and is limited to the first 3,000 copies.

Released 25th February 2019

UK Blu-ray debut

101 Films presents Class of 1984 (1982), title 007 on our Black Label and a UK Blu-ray debut. The first 3,000 copies of each title will come complete with a slipcase, and a Limited Edition booklet, including a new interview with the director.

An idealistic and naïve music teacher (Perry King) moves to the inner city with his pregnant wife to find that his new school is plagued by drugs and violence. Glad this title is getting some love, but I'm just hoping the final product is significantly better than what they did with The Cooler.

Big fan of the film, but as mentioned above, hopefully there's a decent transfer behind it.

Massive fan of the film, literally just got the shout factory release though. Doh! Will probably double dip though.

I love the packaging but how are there transfers/picture quality since I don't know much about 101 Films?

I'll say 'hit and miss'. Rollercoaster didn't look or sound too bad to me (opinions may vary), but to say that The Cooler was botched is an understatement. Let me put it this way: it was bad enough that the film's director, Wayne Kramer, took a look at the screen caps and actually posted in this site's thread stating that this is not how the film should look and that he was very disappointed. The disc's audio leaves a lot to be desired as well.

Considering they’ve licensed Shout’s extras, I’m assuming the transfers will be pretty much identical.

I have the Austalian release from Glass Doll films. Direct port of the Scream Factory release also. Love the movie but can't see myself double dipping. Looks like a great release though. Well done 101!

It looks like Dirty Harry, only the protagonist is a music teacher and the baddies are high school students. Also, the tone of the movie is played completely seriously. Not a satire or parody such as Battle Royale.

My brother and I collected quad-posters for years. I was recently given stewardship of some of the more rare examples, and I am just picking up a frame for this little beauty...

The yellow-ish lighting doesn't do it justice - it's superb.

Now if they release the sequels that's what I'm most interested in watching:

Ah, after over 25 years in storage, this little beauty finally makes it onto the wall of my office...

Who would have thought that Columbia Pictures handled the UK theatrical release?

I built up quite a collection of uk quads too in my day, I have one of those, maybe two. Its hard to get my better half to approve of any uk quads being displayed as many are kinda ugly due to the cheap limited colour palettes. house of exorcism is a particularly ugly poster for such a beautiful movie. At least my four flies on grey velvet abomination is half size. I’m certain to get Danger Diabolik onto the wall soon though, it’s quite cool looking.

The trailer for 1999 makes it look better than I remember it

Had it on VHS donkeys years ago, but don't remember much!

Lovely! Did you custom frame it? Have a few quads I'd like to frame but terrified to even check the price on frames...
