United Kingdom The Monster Club (Network)

I finally got Network's UK Blu release of The Monster Club.

I have always had a soft-spot for Milton Subotsky's much-maligned final foray into portmanteau storytelling.

To say that I was pleasantly surprised with the transfer is an understatement - my jaw hit the floor when I put it on, as the image detail is breathtaking and the colours pop like never before. The PCM audio does a pretty good job of bringing you the songs on the soundtrack like never before.

The extras are disappointing (an isolated music & effects track, trailer, textless trailer, "clean" opening and end titles sequences and a rather pointless montage of clips), but I am more than happy to have a wonderful-looking copy of the film.

If people bought this film on Blu, it will hopefully prompt Network to release more of this kind of thing in the future.

Did you feel the same way about the colour pallet during the Loughville scenes?

I have the Scorpion BD but would gladly double dip for a better transfer. I love this film.

Great disc, for anyone who still hasn't got it, it's currently in the 2 for £10 deal at Amazon.

I got the US disc a long time ago so I'm unsure whether the UK disc is worth a second dip.
I assume they used the same HD source

For what is is, the Scorpion Blu-ray is amazing! Same HD master I believe. I'd have bought the Network disc if I hadn't already had the Scorpion.

I freely admit, I bloomin' love this film too, ever since the first time I saw it in awful quality on a cheap satellite channel.

I watched this the other night. Great transfer. It was a blind buy. I love the aesthetic of the film. To be honest the actual stories fell a little flat for me but the bumpers with Price were awesome. I'm looking for more 60's/70's/80's in a similar vain on blu. Any suggestions?
