Default Why no Superbit for 480i content on blu-ray?

We all know that 480 content is a fact of life at times. Usually comes in the form of extras. Being played on blu-ray it still has stunning color and playback, but the fact remains. It is DVD content on blu-ray.

Here is the thing with 480 transfers. Most of us know that DVD tops out at 10 Mbit playback rate. If your original content can not be greater than 480 lines, then why not encode it at Superbit levels? It's a blu-ray player for crying out loud. It can handle it.

Unless space is that much of an issue, I'd rather see 480 content play back at 15 or 20 mbit, rather than less than 10. The experience would be that much richer.
