Default deepdiscount.com 20% off sale

Note: The subject is wrong but i cant modify it...it is 25% as stated in here.

deepdiscount.com currently has their 25% off sale although it isn't off every items. Code at checkout is 25more and the sale ends June 14th

I noticed their shipping rates to Canada have come back to more reasonable rates and they seem to ship only via DHL.

Their shipping rate is 6.99 + 2.00 per item.

Lots of pretty good deals to be had!

To give you an idea I placed this order:

Sea Monsters: A Prehistoric Adventure [3D/2D Versions] [Blu-ray] Price: $11.47
Three Stooges - Three Stooges [3d Blu-ray] Price: $11.97
Monkeybone [Blu-ray] Price: $11.08
Ghost Machine [Blu-ray] Price: $11.08
16 Wishes [Blu-ray] Price: $9.90
Riverworld [Blu-ray] Price: $9.19
30 Nights of Paranormal Activity with the Devil Inside the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo [Blu-ray] Price: $8.33
Jillian's Travels: Africa in 3d [3d Blu-ray] Price: $6.76
3D Safari: Africa [Blu-ray] Price: $4.48
Yakuza Weapon [2 Discs] [Blu-ray/DVD] Price: $14.08
Boy Wonder Price: $8.96
Comic Books Unbound Price: $6.76
Puppet Master: The Blu-ray Collection, Vol. 1 [3 Discs] [Blu-ray] Price: $14.58
Subtotal: $128.64

Aren't you afraid of getting hit with a huge custom fee for such a large order?

Just saying i would have broken my order in parts.

Thanks for sharing though, i am looking to ordering 2 or 3 TV Show Seasons

In my experience, when I ordered from DeepDiscount.com, I did get hit with custom fees, which is why I stopped ordering from them years ago. It averaged from $30 to $60 per order and I had to pay for the customs every time. Never happened with any other American websites I ordered from in the past.

i always take taxes into account when i place US orders...it sucks when you get hit of course...I'm not sure what DHL's basic cost is...i hope its around what Canada post charges (10.00 + taxes)

the problem with splitting up orders is its 6.99 plus 2.00 per item for shipping and there is no guarantee i wont get hit at the border in smaller orders...that could end up costing a lot more if i get hit multiple times

i was curious so i looked at http://www.dutycalculator.com

and according to their site if i get hit i will be charged 7.96 duties plus 18.29 in taxes for a total of 26.26 in fees....

still cheaper than if i had purchased all of those items here. i guess i'll see when it crosses the border.

i emailed them yesterday because i was mostly worried about them shipping via UPS...

Today I received a respond saying my order was shipped yesterday via "USPS Destination Post Office" so unless thats DHL it sounds like they shipped it USPS

for those wondering i got hit with just under 27.00 in taxes/duties.

That was my worst case scenario and i was ok with that...compared to what it would have cost me on amazon.ca for the same order however even after duties and currency conversion i save over 50.00

As for those suggesting i did smaller orders...there is no guarantee i would not have gotten hit with duties for each order and splitting up the order would have meant my initial shipping cost would have been more...not worth the risk IMO.

When placing orders outside of Canada you should always take the worst case scenario in consideration and if they are shipping UPS well you should likely just stay away as that worst case scenario is really bad

i wouldnt' say this is a good deal. DHL means you will have to pay for customs. Good luck.

it didnt get shipped DHL. It got shipped USPS and i did get hit with customs but if i do who cares as long as I still save money and its taken into consideration to begin with? I would love to know how saving over 50.00 isn't a good deal because thats what i saved in the end even though I got hit with 27.00 in duties/taxes (which i counted in my above savings)

I made plenty orders with twin site aka http://www.importcds.com ( more than 15 orders) and I only paid duty and taxes for 1 order. The main reason was because the price. ( buster keaton boxset 130$) I try to place order under 100$ can for each order and never got hit by customs....

I really like importcds for cheap price for Olive films, CAV titles, and drafthouse films...

Just a warning that for bigger orders they ship with Fedex. The custom fees are fair (from my experience), but just an FYI for those that are wanting to avoid custom fees.

I placed a rather large order from Deep Discount yesterday (they have some pretty good deals with the 15% off code), but they shipped my order via UPS.

They used UPS Worldwide Saver, so I was wondering if anyone knows if I have to pay the entry preparation charges found here?(http://www.ups.com/content/ca/en/shi...clearance.html)

Trying to figure out how much custom/duty fees I will get charged lol

Okay, thanks. Hoping thats the case. I'm in Alberta so it would only be gst (only good thing about living in Alberta right now).

They overnighted the package so it came today and the custom fees was indeed just the gst + the processing fee (like $10 or something), so that was good. I wasn't home today though so I will get it tomorrow.
