Germany The Double 0 Kid

http://www.amazon.de/dp/B005HLJLC0/

I see this is available on bluray in Germany. I figure it's a longshot, but does anyone know what the PQ is like on this? I'd consider importing it as long as it's not an upscale.

Be aware that MIG is well known for slapping badly done upscales on BD. The image quality of DOUBLE O KID is reported to be on good VHS level.

Much thanks for the tip regarding MIG and the PQ info. If it's just VHS quality I'd rather go for the domestic DVD.

I own this and the print is most likely from a vhs master, and not an actual dub from a vhs tape.
While I wouldn't mind seeing this in widescreen I thought the Blu-ray was serviceable. It certainly enhances nostalgia of the glory early 1990s video rental days minus tracking issues and drop-outs

On second thought, I'll have to reconsider importing this, since the A/V quality might still be an improvement over the DVD due to better compression (though the improvement would probably be slight at most). That plus the fact that the US DVD is now OOP and sealed copies seem to be expensive. Though it would be nice to have the movie in my native English packaging. Not a huge deal, but do you happen to remember if the in-movie titles are all in English?

Any other opinions on this? I've been on a bit of a nostalgia binge and watched the dvd the other day. It didn't look too bad to me for what it was. Is the blu in widescreen and with lossless audio or is this confirmed to just be an old upscaled video master?

Another thing to consider is that it is 50i. So there might be issues preserving the original frame rate and audio pitch.

I just watched this for free on Tubi and the quality is definitely VHS level. My eyes slightly hurt from watching it lmao.

But VHS quality can't stop Corey Haim from being the most beautiful human to ever exist. This movie was a hot low budget mess but I enjoyed seeing him trying to escape from bad computer hacking men throughout Los Angeles for 90 minutes.

The action scenes and computer effects are outdated as hell and hilarious. The villains using a computer virus to hack into an airplane? Whaaat. lmao.

The entire score also sounds like a X-Files ripoff.

But I would love to see an actual blu-ray quality of this somewhere.

This low budget schlock is so underrated and has a great cast: Corey Haim, Nicole Eggert, Brigitte Nielsen, Wallace Shawn, John Rhys-Davies, Karen Black, and even Anne Francis. The chase/fight scene with the inline skating gang might be the most ridiculous chase/fight scene in the history of cinema.

The digital HD version that Amazon sells/rents is a little bit better than what Tubi has:

I have no idea if it was shot on film but I doubt it. I don't own the blu-ray so I don't know how it compares to the digital HD version that Amazon sells/rents.
