I would be surprised if Purge opened with more than $20M especially with Conjuring 2 and Shallows in theaters.

I think The BFG's the biggest of the openers. It's Spielberg and Rylance back together (Bridge of Spies did rather well back in October) and I'm sure there will be some nostalgia appeal with the book.
The Legend of Tarzan's a wild card. It could surprise like Rise of the Planet of the Apes did in 2011 or it could be a flop like Warcraft was. Who knows? The Purge franchise looks to have run its course and with this one looking to be in poor taste (in a franchise where its fans actually think such a concept is a good idea), I feel non-fans will stay away. I don't expect Universal to greenlight a Purge 4 (besides, where would they go with it?). |

I'm surprised how everyone thinks BFG could bomb. Families probably have already seen Finding Dory and The BFG looks like a nice follow up. It won't have a mind blowing opening week but it should do solid business and even open up at the top spot.
Purge will do well, thanks to good will earned by the second film. Dory will still hold. Independence Day will drop and I do not expect Tarzan do any good at all. I'm getting Pan flashbacks every time I see a commercial for it. Last edited by The Debts; 06-27-2016 at 12:43 AM. |

For the most part it will be a dud. Too kiddy for adults and too creepy looking for kids. And all I ever hear about it is jokes about the title and what BFG stands for. Will likely land in the 70-90 Million total area.

Anarchy is really bad. This one looks the best out of them all. |
