I'm very happy to see this on disc, don't get me wrong - but this is why this hobby has become a bit more... difficult... to indulge in.

Back in the day these titles would have been released by Fox and I would have paid $10 on Amazon or even cheaper through a FoxConnect sale. Now it's $35 through TT and it's limited.

I have very good Vudu HDX copies of these I paid $2.50 for by D2D the DVD's - that's just going to have to be good enough for me...

I totally agree. Great news that another classic film is being released but it's the same old "Criterion prices without Criterion quality." Limited edition doesn't mean much in the current age of everything being available via piracy. I guess I should just be happy that TT is distributing films no one else wants to anymore.

now we just need "the Valley of the Dolls" and The Snake Pit to really put a good dent into having all of the Fox white front artwork "Studio Classics" dvds released on bd. There were 40 titles released in the US in that series, and over half have now come out on bd. There has been a big lull in announcements until the past few months, when suddenly a few more titles got announced.
I just always thought it would be cool to have all 40 make it to bd, but a few will probably never make it unfortunately.

but you never know.
EDIT: forgot that Valley of the Dolls was actually released on dvd as part of the "Cinema Classics" group.
still very much needed on bd.

Agree completely, I can't be spending $35 on every classic title. Going to have to pick just my absolute favorites. But you are right at the studio prices I would pick up much much more. I blind bought quite a few of the Fox Studio classics but at $35 a pop I sure would not have.

Latest news from Twilight Time:

Twilight Time Movies.....it's just received a fabulous new 4K transfer courtesy of the Fox restoration team.

Twilight Time Movies Release date for the blu-ray will likely be early 2017 to tie in with the 60th anniversary.

Very grateful for Twilight Time for releasing this , and knowing how expensive these 4K scans can be , anything under $50 is a steal.

Adjusted for inflation I was paying triple that for laser discs and they had crap picture quality

You mean 24.95-29.99 is inflated ? Meanwhile Criterion titles are over 30.00

Criterions are easy to acquire for $20 or less for any single disc title. I have over 100 Criterions and I'd say the average price I paid new with tax and shipping was around $18.

TT are $30 + shipping, which means you are typically forking out $35 if you are looking at getting a single title. Or $65 for two, etc.

TT are considerably more expensive.


(Criterion also does their own restorations and seeks out far more bonus materials for that price. Criterion titles that lack bonus features are a max of $30 with free shipping and can be gotten for $15 or less very frequently and with a pretty much certain guarantee it will be in print at sale time)

I just bought ten Twilight Time releases ranging from $7.95 to $14.95 each. If you're patient you can get their releases cheaper too and there's no way Peyton Place will sell out anytime soon.

If TT's recent fire sales are any indication, it may be simply a matter of time before you can pick them up for an acceptable price.
