USA The Night of the Generals (1967) - Twilight Time - June 9, 2015

PRE ORDER http://www1.screenarchives.com/title...GENERALS-1967/

Quote:
“A handsome film…a more logical, understanding, and historically aware example of the thriller genre than we are accustomed to seeing.” – Hollis Alpert, The Saturday Review

“Within the malevolent environment of the Nazi high command…a lurid and mordant screen account of the unmasking of a general officer who likes to disembowel prostitutes…For those who like vivid melodrama, there is plenty of it here.” – Bosley Crowther, The New York Times

Anatole Litvak directs and Sam Spiegel produces The Night of the Generals (1967), an unusual World War II crime thriller about a Nazi investigation into the murder of a prostitute. Major Grau (Omar Sharif) finds himself focusing on three suspects: the Generals Tanz (Peter O’Toole), Kahlenberg (Donald Pleasence) and Seydlitz-Gabler (Charles Gray) – all three of whom, it seems, are also involved in a plot to kill Hitler. Also starring Tom Courtenay, Joanna Pettet and Philippe Noiret, shot by the great Henri Decaë and featuring a score by Maurice Jarre, available on this Twilight Time release as an isolated track.

I find this "who announced it first" thing very childish indeed!
It's just an announcement for heaven's sake.
Noone stole a work of art or infringed on any copyrights!

It's not that a reporter or anything, with danger of his life and much trouble found some exclusive news that he reported, and someone else "stole" them without quoting him.
It's just that TT told it first to HTF (for its own reasons).

Great post. And I've already tried to explain that to MovieDood when he PMed me long time ago to complain about the same (non)issue.

Also, reminder that I'm not in any way officially affiliated to Blu-ray.com, in other words, I'm not a staff member, meaning that HTF announcement is STILL an exclusive.

It's a pity that some folks over at HTF have a hard time understanding something that obvious. Oh well, life goes on.

Wow, I was just thinking about this movie the other day. Love O'Toole as the psycho Gen. Tanz !

Keep up the good work Akijama, most of us appreciate you.

P.S. - Did you and "Carter" have a falling out ?

Thx mate, you're welcome.

Lol, Get Carter is still one of my absolute favs, it's just that I grow tired of that pic. Nowadays, I prefer the "bare bones" profile, lol.

Thx for the kind words, bud! I appreciate it. I will continue to give my best, it's not an option!

Cheers.

In regards to this movie, haven't seen it yet, but it sounds great. I'm definitely a fan of good ol' war classics.

I had to bail from that HTF BLU forum awhile back. Most of the members there seem very...fussy...about musicals. And not very welcoming to those who aren't.

Did you check with HTF and MovieDood to make sure it's OK to divulge this information?

Thanks for your efforts, Akijama.

Can't find any info on it being a 4K remaster, though perhaps, as it's Sony, the one done for the DVD in 2011 was a 4K?
