Dead thread, but I will revive it because I never saw any one answer it (in fact, I've never seen this thread).
For anyone that's interested - you can achieve the "soap opera", 120hz look by using a little tool called SVP (Smooth Video Project). You will need a powerful machine to use this effect on blu-ray 1080p content (Intell i5 quad, AMD FX Quad processor or higher) . I'm actually using it in my upgraded HTPC. I've watched Monsters University and LOTR ROTK with it using JRiver Red October HQ base settings (and the necessary custom adjustments) and it plays incredibly smooth and looks too real!!!!
